Looking to go to London for a long weekend, and whilst I've been to London before, its always been on business, and hence pre-booked and paid for without my intervention.

I'm looking for somewhere a little nicer than your typical "premier inn", but at the same time, not looking for somewhere that is going to want my spleen in part payment.

I'd really like somewhere that isn't any real distance from a decent tube station, and somewhere relatively easy to find (I only really know Regent Street, Berkeley Square, and surrounding areas).

And the obvious question, yes I'll be taking the girlfriend with me.

I usually stay at the Radisson Edwardian Grafton with work, it's quite cheap but reasonable quality and near a tube station.

If you want something nicer than a travelodge but still a bit budget I can recommend the Hoxton Lodge on Great Eastern Street, about 200m from Old Street station on the Northern Line. About 4 stops from Euston and very easy to get into the city centre (Liverpool Street station is also very close).

I stayed here once about 18 years ago. Is that the one with the Mcdonalds next door to it?

If so it's right next to a tube station, and quite a nice hotel unless things have changed.
