Sounds a plan. Im working just off J6 on the M6 and living city center brum tues-thurs. We should organise a sports arena meet in brum before I leave here end of june!

Football aside, people are going on about the recession when there are jobs being advertised left right and centre.

Just tonight I got a text saying the bus company in Manchester is begging for welders to help get the roof of a bus back on. Apparently it was to be used for a city tour but for whatever reason they don't need it now...

Yeah definitely, I can be on Broad St in 25 minutes :)

I also did that joke weeks ago in here :p

Fletcher was a massive loss for you. Of the 6 games you played against the other top four teams this season you lost all three he wasn't involved in. Not only is he a big game player he's also massively underrated.

Yup, he scares the **** out of me at times (especially when him and Rick are on the same pitch) but he ain't half missed when he's not there when we need a grafter.

Being a liverpool fan myself, I want an honest opinion from the Man Utd fans here. How good is Wayne Rooney? i mean honestly. The british press to me, and most england fans in general say how amazing he is, but i dont see it. Commentators today were still banging on about how amazing he was cos he tracked back with Messi and tackled him.

Ronaldo is amazing no doubt, he really is a special player. I cant believe how many goals that lad scores - he was injured at the beginning of the season yet bangs in so many but just misses the golden boot. I think that man utd are a far inferior team without him - he is inspirational and that is why they tried knocking it out to the left to him today on so many ocassions. It just didnt happen today. I actually felt sorry for the lad, - the weight of expectation was just too much and he couldnt deliver today

Coming back to Rooney - he is miles apart from Ronaldo. I dont see him influence enough games, he just does not score enough goals FACT (no pun intended :p ). As a comparison, Dirk Kuyt gets mocked by everybody in england, yet he has scored the same number of goals as Rooney in the premiership this season. Even 'pool fans slate him, i think unfairly. But if Rooney is really world class then he should be scoring more than Kuyt. There is obviously more to the game than scoring but he is a striker at the end of the day.

Anyway enough rambling utd fans hit me with it.

I agree with you there. It's not sour grapes as every team gets injuries and suspensions and you have to live with them. I think with Fletcher playing we can have this 4-3-3 working better than it did tonight. Whether he would have stopped Xavi or Iniesta then that's debatable

Your in a hotel room.... alone?

Find a women.
Give her some drinks.
Pay her some money.
Let the good times commence!

I can send the G|mpess over.

She's in a right mood because I'm being a miserable ******* and have already smashed several items around my friends house and ours :(

Fair enough, i can understand why people hate Chelsea

Abromovich
Drogba
The way we play
Constant change of management

But my reason for disliking Liverpool is 100% from my experience of their fans.

They mock teams so much regardless of how much more successful they have been.
I went to Chelsea- Liverpool CL semi final last year and their fans were SO bad, I'm not claiming chelsea have good fans.
I live in the South and was outnumbered by them at the pub for the Chelsea- Liverpool game this year.
From personal experience they know nothing about football.
The way Gerrard never gets picked up on his constant diving.

Sorry to get worked up earlier but i just find it frustrating that liverpool fans revel in the lose of an opposition who are far more successful than they have been in recent years.

The rivalry between Utd & Liverpool goes way beyond football

Rooney gives 100% every game. You can't buy that kind of player. He can inspire others and give the team a lift when needed.

Goals, well you don't score as many when you're stuck out of the left wing tracking back! :p Also United's style of play this season hasn't suited him at all.

tbh against Xavi and Inesta playing 4-3-3 is always risky regardless of your players

When you add to the mix that they have Henry and Messi out wide its suicidal.

Should have been a 4-4-2 tonight imo with a player assigned to do nothing but play infront of the back 4 like Essien/Mikel did for Chelsea.

4-5-1 Would have been ideal but its a system that just doesn't suit Manchester united and would have made for a poor game, ah well, it was hardly a special game to watch.

I would have started

VDS

O'Shea
Ferdinand
Vidic
Evra

Ronaldo
Carrick
Anderson (hold and nothing more)
Park (help O'shea contain Henry/Messi)

Rooney
Tevez

Without Fletcher and Hargreaves it was always going to be a huge task once Iniesta's name was on the line up.

4 years of pain, guess that explains the frustration ;)

PMSL nothing to do with fustration and pain fella...Arsenal as much as i love them wont win anything until Wenger starts buying some experienced players especially at the defensive end of our team....that much i can admit and it doesnt pain me at all to say it. Frankly we havent been good enough the past 4 seasons altho ill say last yr we should have had the Prem title sewn up but we dropped far too many points in the last few months...but like Liverpool doing it this season.

Im just sat here laughing at your frankly silly attempts to bait me...i guess it hurts that you lost to Barca by playing some truly awful defensive football, like Man Utd you couldnt figure out how to play Barca in the semi final...u went to the Nou camp playing some utter crappy football...second leg was far more exciting i admit but you still got beat by Barca who kept their cool...your pathetic striker Drogba and Ballack then show what a bunch of sore losers they are...sure you should have got a few penalties but you didnt and thats just tough **** really. In a way im glad Chelski didnt get to the final because it would have been an utter borefest like it was last yr...if you had then i would have put my support behind Man Utd like i did last yr in the final.

I think you now understand just how much i despise Chelski;).

And with that i bid you a goodnight...time for me to hit my bed as i got an early start tommorrow:(...have phun :D

Yes you cant buy that type of player. I dont want to derail the thread but Kuyt is exactly what you describe Rooney is, 110% every game, out on the wing. Has picked up the knack of scoring imprtant goals too. In that way to dont seem too dissimilar.... ;)

Gustov, you forget that Chelsea would still be a mediocre a club if Ibramhovic had not taken over with all his ridiculous spending power so 'pool and Arsenal fans must laugh when you give them **** about not winning anything!

Don't make me vomit :(

Why was it, for instance in the Spurs game where Anderson was ripped off at half time for, well, being unable to play football, the team didn't get massively better going forwards, a lot of the mistakes and easy giving away of posession stopped though.

For how brilliant people were proclaiming Barca to be, and there was some brilliant movement, they had very few chances, and really though partially I think due to Henry/INiesta/Messi not wanting to fade early because they weren't quite sure of their fitness, they got through the midfield with ease, but really got into great scoring chances very little for all the posession they had around the edge of the box.

But Carrick wasn't outclassed, as so many times this season with Anderson playing, Anderson wanders fowards and does no defensive work, Carrick tries to defend, but thats not his game in any way at all. His passing becomes dangerous when he's 10 yards behind people running behind the defense, not passing through their entire midfield and defense in a 40 yard pass, thats not his game and never has been.

Giggs wasn't outclassed, he's was just crap, has been crap most of the year, has no pace anymore, and had no real role tonight.

Why on earth Fergie changed up the entire team, and pushed Ronaldo so far forwards I have no idea. Scholes came on, he did a stupid tackle because thats what the team needed, at that point someone had to send the message, no seriously, we will put you under pressure, too little too late though. He does get back very well, and you watch any game with him and Carrick, he'll take the DM role and Carrick will be released forwards.

Rooney wasn't ever in the game, but he had no strikers to play off till the final 15 minutes.

Barca's posession was brilliant, but not particularly effective for very large portions of the game, Utd gave it away, and more for me Fergie gave the game away with the team he started. Tevez as per usual did absolutely nothing, offered zero threat and gave away freekicks from within seconds of coming on. Berb's made some nice runs and got in nice positions, played Evra through nicely and others, should have started.

As for the diving, you watch the replays and you'll see Puyol got caught every time, the VDS one was particularly nasty, completely unintentional and not a foul but he fell on and turned his ankle over pretty badly. LIkewise Ronaldo did catch the top of Puyol's foot with his studs, same kind of thing that caused Rooneys broken foot, it again wasn't on purpose and accidental, but Puyol wasn't diving.
