Hi guys,

Been using onboard wifi on my asus p5k board since i got it and tired of it having to be disabled/enabled throughout day when just seems to go dead and find nothing.

But i just installed this edimax 7728 nmax card and signal strengths on it are rubbish, even the router in this house connected to virgin that is downstairs one floor in the living room has like 39% signal strength? Was better with the onboard.

Am using windows 7 x64. Anyone have any tips to get a better reception as i used to get very good on the virgin connection with my onboard? Seen ralink drivers mentioned before but not sure which ones to get? Windows seems to have auto installed edimax card.

Thanks all

jesus, just tried to play a game and am pinging over 1000 since installing this network card, normally got about 90-150 in demigod.

Hi, yeah i found those after a search earlier and tried them. This is beyond a joke i think i might have to send the card back tbh.

My pings in demigod have gone from around 60-80, to a nice fat 6000 and me getting disconnected or timing out every few minutes.

My signal strength for virgin connection is 'weak' despite normally being good/very good with the onboard wifi. I really thought the onboard wifi was rubbish but now i realise it really wasnt that bad at all, am proper disappointed with this card. Should i maybe try a usb wifi adapter instead? As if i only get a weak signal to a router downstairs then there is no hope for this adapter.

More weird is that when i connect to the internet using this adapter, my whole computer lags, things take ages to open, keep getting weird 'buzzes' in my sound etc, any ideas what is happening here? Soundcard is xonar d1.

my edimax card is superb - i'm using W7 x64 and just use the windows connection software.

Make sure you have the 3 antenna's spread out - also make sure that no-one else is using the same channel as you for your router.

What driver did u install or just stick to the one thats installed by win7 automatically?

Is it poss for the pci not to be seated prpoerly or to be too close to other gear or something? I dunno man i just dont get how computer can be so screwy when connecting using that card.
