My parents are looking for a hotel in the Swindon/Cirencester/Witney area for July for the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford, but they're struggling to find anywhere (for reasons that are probably obvious). Closest they've found so far is Didcot which is currently the plan B.

Does anyone here have any suggestions? Something of chain hotel quality (e.g Premier Inn) would do. B&B might be an option if they're of good quality.

Thanks. :)

Not sure how much you're parents are willing to spend but can recommend the Horse and Groom Inn in Charlton near Malmesbury. Really nice food there too.

Four Pillars is great would definitely recommend staying there.
It also has a fantastic restaurant with lovely food.

Failing that there are also some very nice B&B's in Witney.

De vere, hilton, marriot, Jury's inn(brand new, not sure if opened yet) menzies hotel, ibis, holiday express, holiday express. theres a few more but cant think so google should say!

I used to live in Swindon: Quite a few nice hotels, the Marriot near Intel isnt bad - very close to the motorway. Postcode for reference is SN31RJ.

There is a Holiday Inn in the town centre also which is very close to the amenities but on Friday/Saturday it can be quite loud as its right on top of the clubs etc.

Thanks for the warning about the Holiday Inn. Best avoided. They tend to prefer slightly out-of-town to city centre if possible, and certainly wouldn't appreciate a hotel full of typical club-goers. :D

Like I said, shame the Four Pillars was fully booked as that was first choice.

Yep, then there's also a Menzies just slightly further out from the nightclubs and pubs.

The De Vere Hotel is nice though and it's not small either, so bound to be spaces surely?

It might be worth giving these guys a call

http://www.number65.co.uk/ they're in Tetbury about 10 miles west of Cirencester. They're very small so might have been over looked by people coming from afar.

Try the Cirencester Travel Lodge if you can bare it. It's right on the A419, so a rubbish location for Ciren, but handy for Fairford.

If you're after 4 pillars try the Cotswold Water Park/South Cerney one. A bit nearer then Swindon.

Or if you're minted try Barnsley house http://www.barnsleyhouse.com/flash.html

Twelve Bells at Witcombe, Gloucester? Dual carridgeway to the end of the Fairford queue in 15 minutes.
That's where I'm staying this year, it's meant to be pretty decent. Have used the Premier Inn at Broad Blundsen in the past (really nice gastropub attached) but they were looking for £100 a night this year so they can take a hike.

Just a bit of an update. The Witney Four Pillars wasn't fully booked, it was block booked. A lucky break solved that problem and rooms are now sorted.

Thankyou to those who offered advice.

lol was gonna suggest the four pillars upon reading the thread title. Hope you enjoy the air show, not been myself since being an air cadet (should I have admitted that :/ ).
