I'm considering buying this television as we want to replace our old 26" CRT and I've decided on a plasma screen as we watch a lot of sport.
I saw this TV for £650 odd with a 5 year guarantee today and I really liked the look of it, although it was displaying a HD channel.

We will only be watching SD Sky TV (Mainly sport) and using the Playstation 3 on it (Not a lot of gaming, ~10 hours per month) and from what I've read the TV handles SD content pretty well.

We'll be sitting about 6-7ft away from it which shouldn't give a grainy picture effect should it?
Basically I'd just like to hear peoples opinions on this TV, maybe if you have one and would like to let me know how you find it. I've seen What Hi Fi have rated it 5 stars so I'm hoping that is the general consensus.

Thanks :)

I have the 42PX80BA which is basically exactly the same as the 42X10, the X10 is just this years model and the PX80 was last years.

It handles SD really well through my Sky HD box and HD content looks amazing. I sit from 5ft to about 8ft and it looks great at all those distances.

Brilliant TV for SD and HD, you wont be disappointed.

I've had my 42X10 for over a month now and it's a fantastic tv. I've let it run in as recommended and I now have the settings to my liking and the image is great from any source. My viewing is all SD through my Humax 9200 freeview pvr and at the moment I have a Pioneer upscaling dvd player. The picture is great from the Pioneer but I plan on using that in the back lounge and getting a blu-ray player in the near future. :)

you cab get the 37" model for just a fraction over £500. thast what i'n getting next month . 5 star reviews everywhere and cant wait :)

We've bought the 42X10B for £589 with 5 years warranty which I'm very pleased with.
It's getting delivered tomorrow do you have any recommendations for the settings I should use as I've read about having them below 50% for the first 200 hours or so?

Thanks :)

I know you've said the picture is great from any source, but I'm just interested to know what the picture form the Hummy is like, as I have the say pvr and am looking to get the 42X10 soon too.

The picture is great through the Humax but it does vary from channel to channel, football on ITV for instance is worse than the pic on BBC1. I'm thinking of getting a freesat HD receiver to compliment the 9200 so I can get the best from the tv. As far settings go it's very much a personal thing but I did let the tv run in before upping the contrast a notch etc. There are various modes such as normal, cinema etc. and I suggest you try them for yourselves. There's a massive thread over at AV forums that you should read as that's where I got most of my feedback before I bought the tv. You'll find it here link ;)

Very impressed with the picture quality, watched the football on it tonight and it was brill.
Waiting on a HDMI cable now so I can try the PS3 out on it.
