Looks like the Western release of John Woo's Red Cliff is soon coming here and about damn time too!

You can view the trailer at Entertainment Film Distributors.

Early adopters like myself will already know that the original first part of the film was released last summer and the second was earlier this year, which both are also currently avaliable on DVD & Blu-Ray.

The difference with this coming release will be that it is condensed into a single 2½ hour film whereas the original two parter clocked in at almost 5 hours.

So if you are a Chinese history buff and familiar with the 3rd Century end of the Han Dynasty/Three Kingdoms Period or the famous 14th Century Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel, then this one will be for you.

Looks good havnt heard about John woo for ages film wise i hope this puts him back into the spotlight for being a great director where he deserves to be.

I've seen the first two and thought they were okay, though I found myself getting a bit bored at times. The release here, will it just be the main parts of both films in one?

Yeah it will just be much of the main plot and less of the side/character development stuff.

I hope it is done right though because much of the second film before the final battle is very important as they have taken some strategies employed by the Art of War.

Part 1 and 2 came in the post today. Blu-ray obviously :)

Going to start watching both now, work at 9 but mehhhhh :D

Red Cliff has been out for aaaages, Red Cliff too is excellent, glad to hear they are making a UK release of a great film.

I really liked the two part version. I hope this new cut doesn't make the story suffer. I felt that the first film was reasonably paced and the second only dragged a little compared to many other historical epics. Nice to see Woo make something decent with a budget too.

Both.

The film's ok. Nothing too interesting about the story, or the cinematography. At 5 hours it was cohesive, though...
