The Official/Unofficial [delete as appropriate] Gears of War 2 Thread

I found jacinto best for level 50 session at the ends near the statue with a staircase up and down, you just have to run to the lower section to stop them spawning there on each round start. Then you have people in the bell tower and shields on the stairs for a pretty effective barrier against the bloodmounts, you also have a decent place to retreat to that you can set prox' nades up on.

I haven't really got into horde mode at all but gow2 multiplayer is one of my favourite online games, my only gripe is it is often laggy to the point of being unplayable. Other than that I enjoy it more than the COD series tbh.

I wouldn't say easy, Id say achievable

I would agree with you on any map other then Day One, but the AI is so retarded that they just attack you 1 at a time if you're up behind the torque bow spawn. I was basically doing it solo in the mid 30's on hardcore since my mate was a complete retard and kept dying within the first minute. I can't see the 40's being that much more difficult, I will just need more ammo.

Its much more varied than the cod series - I can sit and play gow online for hours on end but get bored of cod online pretty quickly as I find it very repetitive

Right I'll be around tonight for this, need to go shopping but should be around from say 8pm.

Which one is the level with the laser fences? A bunch of us made it from 1-47 on that one until my Xbox died. It's quite boring on that one, but as long as you don't do something stupid like go ammo hunting in the middle of a wave, the whole team can camp with a couple of gatlang guns until everything is dead.

Also the larger ones won't walk over their fallen comrades corpses - They must be superstitious or something- So they won't get that close if you keep killing things.

Hardcore was er too hard for me. We were only getting a kill or so each and dieing.

I've not played computer games for nearly 6 months now, and tbh I thought it wasn't that bad, my only issue was I was a bit rusty and did not always make the right decisions, my aim has come back a fair bit (now that I'm not using Miss Ks treacle filled controllers).

I was finding it was taking far too much ammo to take down anything, even the drones. Seemed a lot to me compared to even insane in SP.

I was finding it hard to enjoy it because by we would die before enough of us got equipped decent weapons.

I can only see me being good enough to get that done on Security or Canals by everyone staying back at the spawn point as the ammo box spawns just under the first bridge.

You need to be playing on casual - even then wave 30 onwards is no joke

We've done it on casual but Krono and Alrik only want to do it on hardcore :) I was rusty as hell last night, I've not touched that game for months! Some rounds I did well, others absolutely terrible and it was really annoying :p

So your surefire method for completing horde was on Casual and nothing else?

At the LAN we got from level 1 - level 42 IIRC, in Hardcore on Avalanche.

Danny,
I think one of the issues we had was we all tended to crowd one balcony, we should have split up and covered both balconies, so that we had the precision targeting of the Torque bow/Sniper rifle on one side, and the wide area effects of the Mortar/HOD,

That would also mean that when someone needed to go on an ammo run we could nuke the area and provide tonnes of cover fire.

The other issue was we never managed to get a consistent amount of shields. (they just never spawned)

Possibly our starting level was too high. If we had started from wave 1 then we would have easily got all the shields in place that we need and various other power weapons, which in turn would have made killing at level 31 and above a bit easier. I only completely ran out of ammo twice all night IIRC and I was getting a reasonable amount of kills, I'd then bomb it off to get more ammo (I only died doing this when I waited around for the ammo box to respawn).

However the issue of starting at wave 1 is that we would have got to level 30 then called it a night.

Doing it on anything less the hardcore is admiting defeat :p

It would be like playing Halo on Normal (easy) or Easy (retard) difficulties.

Its easily possible on Security, it just gets a bit boring since they always run back and forth between the switch.

Quit bragging - it was 2 people, me and a friend. You'd be surprised at how much of a difference it makes.

I cant imagine it being very fun on anything more - it takes 3 full clips to take a grinder down in the wave 40's, Id find it boring if it took any longer.
