Cash for rent to family.

You are sad, you are on the largest web site in the UK and you think you can't influence opinion?.

Start a new thread, ie
Join with me to force a general election. etc etc.

This is one of the things that the internet can do.

That, however, is just as peurile as signing some online petition -however meaningful it may be. It will amount to nothing.

Our Government doesn't listen to the people. They make their own decisions. Democracy is dead once your elected parties are in power.

I have just caught myself.
I will not row with anyone about what i have said.

I just want people to read it, exemine and think,...........then demand that these mps are removed now, not at next General election GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

People who are eligible for housing benefit can do exactly the same thing if they have a family member who owns a property. The owner registers the property as a rental and they "rent" it to the person claiming, who can then get money from the government to pay their "rent". I'm not sure if it works the same if the property wouldn't otherwise be empty, also once a property has been registered as rented it has to conform to fire safety standards and possibly other similar things.

this is what I was about to say.

if it's registered as a rented room, then you could do it

I'm guessing your sister's house rent was a cash in hand job.

not sure why you're attacking seek so much, he was generally just repeating what you'd said yourself :p

... and whats all this rubbish over them resigning at the "next election", what? if anybody else in the country carried on like they did they would be in jail.

If they were made to depart now as oppose to the next general election, they wouldn't get their pay-offs...

...pay-offs paid for by the tax payer.

This country angers me. In France, they'd be torching cars if this got out (although I do condemn this!). In the UK, we're relying on the press to oust MP's, and even then we're paying for it.

Exactly, I was just going to post this when you beat me to it  LOL
If they resign now they get nothing but if they tough it out 'til the next election (which must be by June next year) then not only do they continue getting their £68000 wage but also the resettlement grant which could be up to another £68000 depending on length of service. In the case of Douglas Hogg, the guy who claimed for cleaning his moat, that amounts to £59000, the first £30k of which is TAX FREE

Yes of course when i lived with my sister she could have put herself forward as a landlord and got full rent, and then she would have been taxed on it as a second income.

I was only sleeping there really.

This she did not want to do, she was helping out her brother on a temp basis, and we were getting penalised for it, unlike an MP, who makes a claim and gets as much rent as they ask for.

I don't know now, but a few years ago there was a limit to how much rent you could claim per week for us mere mortals. Not so for MPs it seems.

Anyway the point of this was just a rant at the "One rule for us and a Better rule for them", because i am getting annoyed at all of this crap and their theft.

@ bledd, yes i apologise to seek, i see now that he was coming round to my way of seeing things.

If you're still up, go to bed.

If you've been to bed, what in god's name are you doing up at 9.30 after drinking 2 bottles of wine. Get your beauty sleep man!

Post back when you've slept/sobered up a bit, your arguments will be far more coherent.

(Not flaming or so, just some friendly advice :))

I have retired early i never said i was over 12.

Doesn't matter. If your family are involved you cannot get housing benefit.

I applied as my parents wanted rent, and what with my current debts from being a student I never see a damn penny of my JSA as it is. I needed the housing benefit to help out so I picked up a form and even spoke to the council - you cannot get benefit if you live under family or they own the property. It doesn't matter how hard up your family may be or how much of a burden you may be - the state will not help you when family is concerned.

Well said and exactly my point.
You are ****ed with claiming rent when you live with family, unless you are an MP.
Then you can claim whatever you want, see fit, or can conjure out of thin air, and then justify said claim to some equally corrupt fees panel.

The problem is that you are equating expenses with benefits. They are not the same thing.

I understand what you are saying, what really makes me mad is that they can claim rent with no questions (or a few) asked, whilst employed (and may even have millions in the bank) and somone on benefits who actually needs the help, cannot get it if they live with their family.

Family being the operative word here.
