:( Hey
I put Vista to sleep, and as soon as it went into sleep mode, it woke itself up and now I have a black screen. My keyboard and mouse don't work. When I googled it, other people had the problem but they never posted how to get vista working again
Here's what goes wrong: you push the power button in the Start menu – this is by default configured to use the Sleep mode. Sometimes this works ok, other times you get a black screen, some USB-peripherals are correctly disabled but the machine itself doesn't power off (fans keep turning etc.). To make matters worse, you can't wake your pc because your USB keyboard has already been disabled.

It also occurs that while your machine apparently went to sleep without problems, it won't start up again or even if it does, it hangs on a black screen and you can't do anything to go further.

Does anyone have any ideas? Turning it off didn't help.

hmm i got this the other day.. i think it tries to hibernate or something... i restarted my pc and all was well.. s the pc completely not working now?.

Like has been said, could be a problem with hibernate. Try putting it to sleep instead of hibernate.
I once had this problem at work with a laptop on vista. The customer insisted they wanted it to go into hibernate and not sleep mode...anywho I reinstalled the chipset drivers and all was well, so that maybe worth a try.

when I go to turn it on, the fan starts up and all, but no usb devices work and there is a black screen. I can't get "back into" vista, because I can't get it out of semi-sleep mode (no usb devices work).

ahh are your mice/ keyboard wireless?

apart from that all i can sya is a combination of trying to turn it off by holding the power button down for a while after booting up, turning back on, or just general restarts (sorry if im patronising you :P )

I had the same problem tonight after leaving my pc for a while after doing a clean install of vista today...went back and it had gone to sleep....pressed keyboard and all the lights came on and fans etc etc but a black screen.....just pressed reset button and rebooted and back to normal.....I have had this before after the pc goes to sleep...i just disable it in power options then it isnt a problem anymore

Ok guys, I hunted the interwebz for ages, and someone found that resetting CMOS did the trick. So I opened up my case and reset it, started my computer up, and its now all working again! 3 Cheers for google!

Thanks anyway guys

I have also had the same problem before when I first got my Asus P5K-E Wifi. I checked Asus website and noticed a BIOS update that actually mentioned it fixed issues with sleep and after that sleep mode wakes up perfectly fine now.
