So, after 2 years of driving my Punto and getting a placement sorted for next year, I could afford the insurance for something with a slightly bigger engine :)

It's a 1997 UK model, 1.8iS MX-5. Comes with leather seats, electric windows, PAS and an aftermarket remote central locking kit. A very good upgrade I think :D

Needs a good clean and wax and then it should be ready to go!

Spoiler suits it. Very nice. Might be tempted to one of these in a couple of years when I get shot of the mini :)

Funnily enough I just bought one of these (1996 1.8) to replace my XJS. I had to pay a little extra for one in "manly" racing green (saw one in....yellow cheaper and nearer) but I am looking forward to picking it up.

Mine has all the aftermarket kick-plate stuff too. Have to say I like your seats more than the tan leather ones I've got.

Looks very nice. Great upgrade from a punto. I'm having to drive one at the moment, I can't stand it.

My Punto is amazing! 2 years driving, never let me down, done over 500 miles within a week this week without a hitch and its on 107,000 miles:D Cant fault it:p

Weeey, another mx5, ace :D

I like the seats. Can I have the seats? :p

Sorry, the seats and the colour are the main reason I wanted this one so much:D I was originally looking at the "Classic" edition but there is hardily any for sale and this seemed to be the closest thing to it :)

Those seats look in really good condition actually, most of the leather ones I looked at we're really worn and a bit tatty.

It's funny how people say these are girls cars but I only ever see men driving them :/

I'm am so tempted to get one, they handle so beautifully.

Thanks for the comments guys. I'm not sure if the seats are aftermarket or not, they are in very good condition if they are original with only slight wear on the driver side bolster, but I've not seen any other MX-5's with that colour combination. And Janesy, just go for it :D

Niec car, I ahve the 7-spoke V-Spec's on my Mk1 1.8iS. Get yourself on www.mx5nutz.com and go to the forums - tend to be very helpful, though there are a lot of us with Mk1 '5s on here. Love the seats btw.

Hoods: If the old Vynal hood is going funny,a nice mohair/glass window one is £450 fitted. One of the best things I have done to mine. Also, if you ahve the plastic rear window, ALWAYS un-zip it when you drop the hood.

Regular issues: The windows will die. A horrible death. My electric windows are shocking. Watch for rot on the sills, arches and just below where the corners of the doors are and have it undersealed - worth it. The electric mirrors are attached by a bolt welded on the inside of the doors and are significantly different to the normal ones. They can come loose over time, so watch for that. Treat the leather regularly, it'll go hard and rubbish if you don't.

Hope that helps

Thanks, I'm already on there and have been lurking quite a bit, posted almost exactly the same thread there :)

The windows are the only dodgy part on the car, the passenger window stops about 4 inches from the bottom and gets very slow as it gets there, and the drivers window is just dead, but I know there is a common issue with the steel cables that drive it snapping so will dedicate a weekend to trying to fix them.

The hood is in great condition and the rear window has no creases or clouding to it.

There is surface rust on the sills but nothing to worry about just yet!

Ahh I've been playing :D

I absolutly love the BBS wheels on MX-5's, might have to get some in the future!
