Setanta about to call in recievers?

Nobody saw that coming did they, I don't know anybody who actually pays for it, most of the people I know that have it are with Virgin and its free on the top package.

im sure virgin are paying for it in some way, so they will be getting something from them.
 
oh god please tell me this means we could see the end of Setanta, worst football coverage ive ever seen, i want to throw a brick through my telly every time i have to listen to Craig Burley and John Champion talk utter and complete trash.

This is the best news since the end of ww2 was announced.
 
No question that the coverage is awful but isnt it bad that Sky's only real competition for live footy is going to the wall?

Competition is a good thing - and I cant see ITV or BBC (or even Virgin directly) paying for live coverage

You can say what you want about the SPL, but it was a pretty fantastic season with ever club bar Motherwell and Hibs having something to play for right up up the last few games.

That said the quality of the football is poor in comparison to the Premiership, and Setanta paid too much for it and are paying the price of that.
 
Hmm so what is going to happen now?
Surely with no competitors then SKY could pay less for the broadcast rights when the next deal comes around? So less money in the Premiership?

Also means the SPL have no TV income coming in apart from those that are shown by SKY in the Scottish Cup.

I used to be a Setanta subscriber until I moved to Prague, the boxing coverage was great and I used to watch the SPL and the odd Premier League game too.

Exactly mate, has actually been an exciting season in all honesty!

What I will say is Sky and BBC will both gladly have the SPL I'm sure of that should Setanta go down pretty badly.
