The manager merry go round starts early.

as a sunderland fan I am very satisified with Bruce..he's is not spectacular, but he is steady and thats what we need right now....if we can finish 10th, 11th or 12th next season, be clear of relegation, then thats progress for us....little steps to start with
he will have money to spend and hopefully will bring his backroom staff with him as the wigan fans seem to think thats their strenght this seaon

I doubt all the fans will see it that way if he spends 40 million and gets you less than 10th?
Im not over bothered with him going, he's done it once before! Money grabber in my eyes!
But defo no no for Jewell, id contemplate not renewing my season ticket next season if that happens!?

Surprised Wigan have let Bruce go. I think Ancelotti's poor english won't help him.

Errrmmm he seemed pretty good at speaking english from what i saw on skysports news this morning...his english is a lot better than Scolari's.

In defence to bruce, wigan sold palacios in jan and its all but certain valencia will leave. I thinks hes leaving the ship before it inevitably sinks and sunderland offers better prospects for him

Wigan are on the verge of cashing in the last of Bruce's best achievements when Valencia goes. Is it really that surprising for him to leave whilst his stock is high and someone with money is willing to back him. Yes he could stay at Wigan and hopefully pull another few bargain aces out the pack, but if he doesn't then his chances of landing a higher profile management job next season will be much lower.

I honestly think Wigan fans should appreciate what he brought to your club rather than chastising him for trying to further his career. As the likes of Allardyce with Bolton and Hughes with Blackburn have shown, there is a limit to where you can get with smaller club funds. They have also both shown that shoestring managers don't necessarily shine when first given money to burn, so it will be interesting to see what happens with Bruce at Sunderland.

Bruce is a loyal bloke aint he, I hope he ends up getting the sack at sunderland.

I don't see a problem with him moving in the way he has, at least this time. There's no point him staying if he's going to have all the great finds he brings in sold from under him, is there?

If he can unearth another Valencia and Palacios at Sunderland he should be able to keep them on his playing staff and actually move the team forward, not just the club.

Bigger clubs will always come in for bigger players and they will leave. Even if he had those players at sunderland they would still have moved on had a bigger club come in for them. Wages and agents would have had them moving as always.

Personally I've never even thought of him as that great a manager. Certainly not one I'd pay 3 million compo for.

He didn't unearth Palacios, Wenger recommended him to Bruce.

Speaking of Bruce does anyone know if he's had a blood transfusion in the last year or so?

Wigan boss Steve Bruce has ruled out the prospect of him becoming the next Sunderland manager.

Bruce is continually linked with jobs that become available as a result of the impressive work he has done at the JJB Stadium.

The former Manchester United captain admits he would not be interested in the job because he would see it as an act of betrayal towards his former Old Trafford team-mate Roy Keane and that as a Geordie he could never manage Newcastle's biggest rivals.

"Let's nip this straight in the bud. It's a total non-starter," Bruce told The Sun.

"I'm very happy at Wigan and if you cut me open I'd be black and white to the core!"

Ancelotti hasnt signed a player or "managed" a club in the 8 years he has been at AC Milan according to Italian football journalists reporting today.

You dont know till he gets stuck in, but that doesnt sound encouraging, apparently transfers are handled by the board and he just sends out what he is given.

GH agreed yesterday to become a technical adviser to the club so he's going to have an input in to who we buy and how to use them, I'd trust his judgement and opinion if not CA's just yet:)

Sky Sports are reporting that Ancelotti will get £100 million to spend

That amount of money is nonsense, we could probably spend £50-£60m but a lot of that will have to be funded by sales:)

Who says exactly? The ruski is still a multi billionaire and he can spend what he wants. He didn't give Grant money to spend because well, he always knew he was going to replace him, he didn't give Scolari that much money, partially as he hadn't "bought" players in years and years, and partially because then no one knew what was coming in terms of the economy. GH was never going to stay so again, he didn't want GH buying players he wanted, just to buy a whole new bunch who the next guy wanted.

CA is finally a manager he planned to get, a big name, he trusts and is willing to give him more than a year to prove himself, hence he'll probably be given money to spend.

I'd have to say, in terms of sales, CHelsea don't have a very deep squad, who can they sell, Deco, Drogba(maybe), no one else is going are they. Anelka's done great when deployed out of position a hell of a lot, golden boot much. Ballack, new deal, Lampard best player at the club, Mikel and Essien, both staying put, Kalou/Malouda they might get rid of(though would be the level of backup Chelsea should have) but after their last 2 years they'll be branded as difficult to get the best from, inconsistant, and rather useless, can hardly see big money for anyone you could sell tbh.
