My once great samsung 8800 (or pixon if you will) no longer/intermittently responds to the touchscreen being pressed.

I woke up one morning just to find the touchscreen no longer worked on the phone, then after 10mins or so, when you pressed the left side it registered it as a press on the right side then it just worked again.

This has been happening for the last week until now when it doesn't work at all!!, I haven't dropped the phone ever or got it wet etc, i've had a cover protector on the screen and its not even got a scratch on it yet this has happenend.

The main problem is, i don't have phone insurance as i've never broken a phone ever so never intended to do so with this, my most expensive phone.

So how can i get it fixed? will orange do it or give me a replacement with me not having insurance? i'm kinda guessing no.

Can i start insurance and then say 2 weeks later say its broken?

like i say i've never broken a phone before so not really sure where to go.

i'm on Pay monthly contract by the way, and there's no way am i buying a new one.

How long have you had the phone? Regardless of whether you have insurance or not it should still be under a warranty of some sort if less than 12 months old.

a renewed the contract in early march i think, so its not even lasted 6 months yet, am very disappointed really.

As far as I've been told, all phones taken out on contract are covered for hardware faults for the life of the contract.

So if it's broken, and not your fault, you should be able to walk into the store you got it and ask for a new one/it to be replaced. At least that's what I've done if it broke.

Phones are not covered for the life of the contact. They have a seperate warranty. However most phones come with a 24 month warranty, so often the they are in warranty after the contract has expired actually. If its stopped working, take in in for repair.

I'm just going by what I was told when I took out my last two contracts. It may just have been awkward wording by the salesman to mean "The warranty is the same length/longer than your contract".

Either way, just ask them to repair it for you.

I've also got a pixon and when my headphones suddenly stopped working i emailed samsung and they told me everything on the phone is under 6 months warrenty. All they asked me to do was email them the code that appears under the battery and they sent me a new set out so your probably covered by this? Drop them an email and see what they say...

Ok first things first!
If you got this via either customer services direct, or via the orange website, your covered for 6 months with orange for a 24 hour replacement for anything warranty related.
If you bought this via a retail store, return to them with your proof of purchase and they will arrange a free repair under the warranty

This handset has a 2 year warranty but point of purchase are there to sort it within 6 months

I work for the fruity network, give me a shout if ur stick with anything
