The manager merry go round starts early.

wonder if he meant directly after Keane - rather than one manager inbetween

Anyway - that was also before Wigan sold /agreed to sell his two best players in the team from under him.

Just because he wants to leave Wigan doesn't mean he has to join Sunderland.

Faux Geordie charlatan as most of us already knew.

Well, IMO, Liverpool have the best XI as proved by their results against the other top 4. plus they lost less than the other 3 in the premier league. jus too many draws.

You take a job where you can get it (and keep your "project" together) - especially in this financial climate

Matters less now you arent direct competitors surely, or maybe you just dislike him for disliking's sake!!!

Personally think Chelsea lost a lot more from long term injuries , not to mention their 1st choice back four seemingly playing irregularly together due to injuries etc (along with Essien out for majoirity of season and Joe Cole missing a reasonable chunk of it)

Minimum amount of losses counts for **** this summer doesnt it :) (but if thats what keeps you warm at night.....)

Another deluded Liverpool fan?

No offence, but on first XI's alone I'd put Liverpool as 4th out of the top 4. Also your point about the results vs the top 4, I don't have any clue how that's relevant at all, also they lost the least amount of games? How is any of this relevant to a first XI discussion? I'm confused.

Liverpool 3rd
Arsenal 4th :)

It's a matter of opinion obviously, I definitely think Arsenal have a stronger first XI though. I think induvidually Arsenal's players are better. I'd probably take Reina and Torres, maybe Gerrard (but I prefer Arshavin :)) and Masch. That's probably it.

ok, fair enough. seems like we have a load of chelsea fanboy's on today. lamps or gerrard? i know who i'd have. torres or drogba? again i know who i'd have. mascherano, alonso, the list is endless and all man for man better than chelsea's equivilents. that's why they finished below us. we beat man u 4-1 at home remember. oh an torres missed half the season too. we never had a striker for months. bring on tevez, silva an the premier league!!!

I'd rather you didn't paint me as a 'chelsea fanboy' and reply maturely if you disagree with me :/

'the list is endless'

No it isn't, the list ended in your post, also, Essien is better than Masch. Why am I replying :( You're exactly the type of L'pool fan I don't like, you can't be reasoned with

lol, same here. am 28 an keep sayin we need some young un's in our team. then again, anythings an improvement over last season.

keep shearer and start from scratch. we might even come straight back up!!!

Can I ask who do you support as it isn't at all clear? Are you a Newcastle or Liverpool fan or are you both?

Irrespective of who has the best XI on paper the old saying about the league table never lying doesn't seem all that wrong, it doesn't really matter if you've got a team packed with individuals who are great on paper if they aren't going to get the results on the field. Football is (at the risk of stating the obvious) a team game and the team that is most consistent and most efficient at picking up points will win - you can debate whether that counts as the strongest or not but I suspect that's slightly unimportant to the folk picking up their medals at the end of the season.

Im a Man Utd fan :D

I can still appreciate they have a much better first XI than the others of the top 4 - all of them have a few incredible players and a few average ones - 1/2 Chelsea, 1/2 Man Utd, 1/4 of Liverpool and a couple /three of Arsneal 1st XI could probably step into most teams of the world and strengthen them

(Cech, Bosingwa, Terry, ACole? (dont like him personally), Essien, JCole, Lampard, Le Sulk, Big Girls Blouse :D - VDS?, Evra, Rio, Vidic, Ronaldo, Rooney, Carrick (like him a lot but maybe not quite), Van Persie Arshavin? (fantastic 2nd 1/2 of season but needs to do a few on the trot), Fabregas, Masch, Gerrard, Torres and Reina

a lot more with a good deal of promise - but thats the core I would say of the top four sides that are really head and shoulders above 90% of players out there

As a fully fit 1st XI Chelsea are much better than what Liverpool and Arsenal currently have, and probably Utd too although thats a little harder to call

From a squad Utd all the way

You really haven't got a clue have you?

Especially in today's financial climate? Aye, must have been tough to survive on the pittance Wigan were paying him.

Newcastle and Sunderland will always been rivals regardless of what division we are in. The rivalry never changed when Sunderland got relegated, why would it change just because Newcastle are relegated?

And, no, I don't dislike him for the sake of it. I dislike him for the reasons I've given: he calls himself a Geordie when he blatantly is not.

I seriously can't understand how many people in football (especially the media) don't understand what it means to support a team, you don't just join your rivals for money or success, then again, Bruce was never a Newcastle fan.

Who could touch Chelsea's starting XI on paper? Manyoo would need to have Anderson/Giggs/Scholes/Carrick/Fletcher. Liverpool have two players and Arsenal clearly don't cut it, though with a DMC they might get closer.

am a liverpool fan, born to geordie family, who has a soft spot for Newcastle.

good point too visionary. he's no geordie if he signs for them

and you keep on blatantly ignoring the fact that Wigan kept on selling His best players - so he wasnt able to improve the team over the long term. So he HAD to move on. There arent that many other jobs going currently - as Chelsea was a done deal months ago according to reports

Football is full of players and managers who have moved to rival clubs after making a success at another, let alone one he never actually played / managed - what makes Newcastle so special!!

Hughes played for Chelsea and manages City - I have loved and supported Utd for over 2 decades doesnt mean I dispise Hughes. I respect him for wanting to further his career where he can.

But hey if you want to carry on throwing petty insults go ahead - water off a ducks back!!!

From a personal stand point it wouldn't matter who I supported, it's a job. If I were a professional football manager I'd act like one and put personal preferences aside and choose the job which would further my career best! So I can understand Bruce
