Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

Just ordered this today and really looking forward to playing. I have fond memories of various editions of the SF franchise over the years and it sounds like I won't be disappointed with this one altho that might change after a day's play on a 360 controller :D
 
Finally got the hang of Ken's ultra now, what's the best way of setting this up? A lot of people seem to block it. Going to order a stick next week! :D

I really want this game but there's no way I'll get it until I get a stick. Bit short of cash at the moment so i'm holding tight. Treat yourslef to a stick if you can :D

FADC an uppercut -> Ultra, punish jump ins or punish whiffed moves (You can google the terms).
 
Cheers mate, loving the game at the moment especially now I can actually pull off an ultra! What's the quickest way of building up your "super" meter? I seem to get an awful lot of Ultra revenge but not many chances to pull off a super.

Its normally best to use your super meter for EX moves rather than saving up for a full super :)
 
ive just had my first ranked game! ive had it from launch but online play has never interested till now.

anyway. i lost and felt that i couldnt chain anything together. the controls felt unresponsive and i got owned. would this be lag causing this or just that im dump? lol

kens ultra is unfortunately pretty crap: high risk, slow start up, bad combo damage. its only pro is that the full ultra is very strong but the chances of landing that on a good player is practically 0.

the best setups:
hp shoryu -> FADC -> ultra
jump hk / jump ex tatsu -> ultra (note this is PUNISHMENT only, for when you are sure your first hit is going to connect)

other than that theres the standard FA level 2 (or higher) crumple hit -> ultra and the standard punishment for big whiffed moves

it was probably lag, you will know if the game is laggy though just by moving and pressing any button :p

i find general hit strings and combos build up meter nicely for ken, most of my meter comes from hitting. ken super is pretty easy combo damage but he doesnt get much chance to use it because his EX moves and FADC's are a big part of his game.

bull dogging is the general beat em up term for aggressive play. its very hard to do so in SF because zoning is so effective due to projectiles... this makes it very tough on aggresive player in lag as the simple task of edging forward and blocking on reaction can be a nightmare.

i pick ryu in 3 bar or under as i know my ken will stand little chance.
 
After been playing with balrog last few days, he is absolutley awesome, managed to pull of the headbutt > ultra a few times with the pad, just hoping within this month i should have my custom stcik and i will definitely spend time on the rog. :p :D
 
Plans have started of what i want for my arcade stick,

Been trying a few things on photoshop for my arcade stick print- template. Not successfull at all, Actually looking for a dark ryu one, Anyone have any sites or any photoshop skills to help me out ?
 
looks like people are starting to lose interest in this game? i certainly have and im very surprised to say it since i love beat em ups.

think ive said it before in this thread but the bottom line is they made street fighter WAY too easy and accessable. easy reversals, shortcuts and priority has ruined the game for me. i also disagree completely with the damage scaling, too rewarding for little effort. i dont have the patience to play how this game is played, zoners totally dominate this game. ill be playing this game very casually if anything now

roll on tekken :)

They need to make SFIV' a much more aggression friendly game, as the current turtle fighter IV version sucks my interest out of the game.
 
Cant get on with the Tekken series, I'm sure that a skilled player will beat a noob 10 times out of 10, but it seems to be very button mashing friendly.

I'm going to persevere with SF IV, I'm still to get a propper stick and it's really only then I can make an informed decision on whether I really want to carry on putting in time and effort.

Must say though, I'm looking forward to KOF XII.........
Never really got into the KoF series but put a good few hours into Garou on MAME and loved it......

Your the Champ of OC Ojste, Been having some nice freindlies with you last few days, Your ken i am finding very very difficult to counter, your ryu i manage to give you a good game and plus your balrog i manage to get a good game but your ken is just to dominating maybe its my style im playing against your ken, i still need to add a few things into my game focus wise etc.

Tbh ojste, i became aware of my growing disdain for SF4 when we had those few Tekken DR sessions a while back. I noticed that even though i lost to you far more in tekken i was actually having more fun, whereas if i lose in SF4 i would usually just feel annoyed. Reason being is the priority, reversal and just general ease of play you speak of. When you get DP'd out of a combo and that one attack does more damage than what you managed to do from your combo its just infuriating.

So yeah, bring on tekken!
