Looking at getting one of these...can anyone tell me about there experiences with them and how well they work?

Western Digital WD TV HD Media Player is the only one I can see on OCUK is there any particular models that people recommend to get / stay away from?

WDTV seems to be the daddy at the moment, It doesn't have a HDD in it though like some of the others. There's the Popcorn hour, but its around £200 but has an internal drive and ethernet connectivity

Cheaper the better tbh :) seen a few on the bay @ decent prices, all i'm looking for is video playback for tv shows mainly.

There's a big thread on the WDTV...possibly in the Home Theatre section. It plays pretty much every format so you should have no trouble getting it to play what you want.

Looks good, but its not 1080p and doesn't play mkv files.

Yup was about to say the same thing !

no point in that box if it dont support hd mkv files.

that wd player should be 60 quid imo also.... its just a plastic tiny box with software ;) and popcorn player needs to drop to 130 quid also....

In an ideal world yeah :p the WD can be had for £80 I think which isn't too bad, the Popcorn hour really does see overpriced though, and you have to import it. I think the WD will keep it's price for a while as its really the only one like it on the market.
