Just as topic really. Just wondering if anyone has a serious interest in it and has progressed from someone who works on the shop floor to something higher and more exciting?

Those with the gay jokes should go out and play in the sunshine instead of posting rubbish to boost their post count. ;)

What sort of information are you looking for here? It might help you to get more relevant answers.

I'm afraid I probably can't help that much in that the closest I've ever got to fashion is having a cousin who used to do cashmere knitwear for a designer but from what I know it can be long hours for comparatively little reward although depending on your position in the hierarchy you might have a fair few trips to the garment factories e.g. in the far east.

More about the 'head office/behind the scenes' side and how to get into it really. Nothing too particular. :)

I am not interested in the needle and thread side of it, thats one thing i am postitive about.

I did apply for Next at one point while looking for a job last year, I'm not sure if the process there is typical but their trainee positions require a degree or "relevant industry experience". I'd suspect like quite a few careers if you don't have a degree to use as a bargaining tool for starting then you'll simply need to show enthusiasm and ability after starting from the position of a sales assistant or similar while looking for any opportunities to progress internally.

I'm ginger, sun is bad.

Not as bad as being a raging homogay and working in fashion though.

hey..
I work as a fashion buyer for a designer label. I know quite a bit about head office positions. PM if you want some more info or have any specific questions..

A long time good friend of mine is the head buyer for a huge fashion outfit. She was previously working as Phillip Greens "right hand woman". :D

She jets all over the world on buying trips but despite having such a high profile position she is still as down to earth as they come.

I work in E-comm, firstly for a large sports retailer but now for a large catalogue company. Anything that you wanna know from this side of retail let me know.

If she has the time and wants to help a 'friend' of Draeger's off a computer forum, my trust is enabled. :o :p

Seriously, anything you can ask her would be great such as tips and how best to get into it...i'd be very grateful. :)
