I guess it all depends, the big crop circle from last year (the one with all the concentric circles) ended up making the farmer who owned the field £270,000 from various media and tourist sources. Admittedly though I dont know much about farming, so no idea if a field of crops makes more than that or not.

So, I suppose if the keying on my car was artistic enough and I was able to sell it to a collector or something for several thousand quid, I wouldnt mind :)

Why does it have to be made just overnight? First of all, it's on a field in a farm. It's not like a busy town square, there might be no footpath going near/through it and hence the creator could work all day and night if needed. If they were worried about a plane flying overhead and seeing it, they could start work at dusk.

But that was done with the farmers concent. That is the issue, I am not saying making crop circles is bad, its a farmers field, they do what they want within reason. My problem with the hippys who done this is that they have done so without concent of the owner.

Fun is fun, but damaging other property isnt.
 
I can't help but notice that it IS on a tilt in the field. Clearly a human would have done it perpendicular to the lines in the field, but the alien, seeing as his UFO was flying on a tilt, could only manage this frankly poor effort. Clearly extraterrestrial in design.

I just re-read the article - it doesn't mention at any point that the crop circle was made on the land with or without permission, so why are you getting so riled?

For all we know it could be stunt by the local tourism board to bring people to the west country, it even says at one point that they hope it brings tourists!

If so - well done economic-stimulus hippies! (But, they still need to get a job).

Well to be fair, we dont actually know that this was done without the farmers consent, and to be honest even if it was done without his/her consent I dont suppose they will mind too much if it does manage to bring in a few hundred thousand quid like last year.

I certainly know that I wouldnt care if someone keyed art into my car without my consent if I was then able to make 10 grand from it. :)

The farmer can now charge people a tenner each to wander round his field.
 
The owners of the land in Oxfordshire have urged visitors to stay away from the circle, which is also 60m (197ft) wide, to avoid further crop damage.

Sally Ann Spence and husband Bill, who own Berry Croft Farm near Ashbury, say hundreds of visitors have been trampling over their field.

They said it was "beautiful" but the flattened crops were now "useless" and the damage was worth about £600.

"We have not given permission for people to walk on our land," Mrs Spence said.

To me that implied that they have not given permission for it in the first place, but if they did and now complaining about people wondering about there, then they are tards too.

Your draw it, then you can easily scale it up. Then as said it's made with a plank of wood pressing it down each step. discovery did a documentary on them and hired some uni grads to make one. They had no experience in making crop circles. they even took night cameras with them. Guess what they did and guess what it made the newspapers. These places you won't be seen, it's the country side.

Depends what artist it was, and what car - I don't think if someone did a Monet-esque impressionist piece on the side of a Ford Focus it would look too good. Maybe some abstract expressionism on the side of a Vectra would go down nicely.

Well they are benefiting from it now - so it doesn't matter. If I lived there I would be happy to contribute and have a look round.

Or it could be a ploy. to make it look like something other than human made. do you think any of the farmers that let it happen actual go on record and say. Yeah we let these people do it.

Well you never know, hell collectors pay loads for dissected horse corpses and stuffed sheep. If someone keyed artwork into my car and I got £10,000 for it , I would be well chuffed :)
