The Worst News I've Ever Heard - They're Making A Prequel To Alien

After Fox has almost totally destroyed The Alien Franchise with the AvP movies. They now want to create a prequel to Alien. I agree that this would be a good idea for a new Alien movie, and probably the only direction the franchise could go in, but you HAVE to attach a quality director, in the same league as Ridely Scott, James Cameron and David Fincher.

It makes me feel sick to my stomach that the suits at fox are ready to destroy my and thousands of other peoples favourite franchise. I'm gutted, really gutted.

Here's the link:

dont be such a drama queen.

Alien became a franchise when number 2 was released and they started making comics, books, games, all sorts.

To let that franchise die is stupid.

oh and ur forgetting one thing mate. Ridley Scott and Tony Scott are producing this along with the new director, im personally excited. no more AVP crap movies. its hardcore Giga horror time :D

I thought Sigourney Weaver was signed up for another Alien film? How are they gonna fit her in looking older than she did in the original? :d

Fox should have done the decent thing and given it to James Cameron and let him do whatever he wanted.

With Ridley Scott & Tony Scott producing this it sounds promising, loved the first 3 Alien films. Hopefully this can banish the memory of AVP, lol. Just hope Fox dont turn it into another cash-in.

True, If anything im glad Ridely is involved at some level but if you look at the calibre of films churned out of Fox recently its quite embarassing. I'm not against expanding the franchise at all, I'd just rather they'd attach an experienced director. Cameron had Aliens, Scott had The Duellists and Carl Rinsch doesn't seem to have anything under his belt.

This would have been the best thing Fox could have done to bring life back into the franchise, James Cameron is an incredible director IMHO & Aliens & Terminator 2 are 2 of my favourite films ever.

Is the Aliens universe still separate from the Predator one or were they mashed together to create the AvP storyline and is now considered canon?

Could be awesome, could be crap, i just hope they dont turn it into some cheesy action fest and tell more of a story about how that alien ship came to be on the planet and how the company knew it was there in the first place.

Could be good call judging by the first snippets of information we have.

I love the Alien movies, not too keen on the AvP ones. That said they are not that bad and were relatively unavoidable due the the Alien head being placed in the trophy room inside the Predators ship. That got people thinking including me.

I would like the prequal to be based around the original Alien universe and explain the origins of the species and like Castor said tell us the story behind the ship on the planet.

Im honestly looking forward to this.:)

Surely they would have learnt from the AvP series? I can't believe it's going to be THAT bad (although, now I recall that Kevin Smith talk on Hollywood movie producers and the superman film..)

I hope they slow the alien down a bit. In each film they moved about progressively faster and faster, probably because of what they could do with cgi, but I always thought the more slow and methodical alien in the first film was far more menancing. I also preferred the actaul alien design in the first film, even though it was a man in a suit, the large smooth head looked far creepier than what it became. I am hoping for more suspense and significantly less action if they do make this prequel.

Also the first film was dark and full of suspense. You could not really tell what was hunting these people down at first. In the fourth film, they might've well had the aliens doing a top hat song and dance routine on some sun-lit beach.

The problem is that there was no preconceptions in the first film, no-one had ever seen an alien before, no-one knew what it looked like, how it behaved, what made it so lethal.

I simply do not think they can repeat the horror and suspense from the first one. From now on the alien films are always going to be action films.

^What happened to you?!^

This has the potential to be good with Ridley Scott on board.

Could be worse, they could be remaking the Flight of the Navigator....

Oh wait, they are :(

AvP could have been tremndous if they stuck to a 18 certificate and not downgraded it for kids.

An Alien prequel is fine with me if the Scott brothers are involved. Again, make it an 18 to maximise how much you can play with it.
