The earphones from my iPod classic have started to 'fart', so I'm looking to have them replaced.

Not really upto speed with what's good so hoping 1 of you lot can shine some light.

Looking to pay no more than £50, although that's not exactly set in stone :)

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks for the input lads.

just been looking at the prices for both and the CX500's seem cheaper..is there a good reason for that then?

Anyone got any other recomendations before I go and buy? :)

I've used the CX500 and couldn't stand them, muddy bass, highs weren't very clear. I ended up buying Denon AHC-551 and love them.

Yea i agree, i got pair of pl30 and they are great.Much better than cx300 i had before. If you had more money to spend, you could buy portable amp and LineOutDock for Ipod because it will make the quality much better. I've done that to mine and it's really improved.

Yea, if you are lucky you can get the CX400 for very cheap.. around £20 which is a bargain for those particular earphones. Don't get the CX500 all i have heard is bad reviews and 2 stars from them lol...

Creative EP-800 earbuds are also quite good and very affordable, but honestly nothing has come close to the Soundmagic PL-30s in terms of price/performance. My only gripe with them is the funky Shure-style fitment which I just don't like, but many love.

I see Soundmagic PL-30 aint sold in uk?

see them mainly in usa/fleabay for about £20 with delivery.... but too long of a wait.

Still worth going for that or cx300s ? both are similar in price...but cX300 at least can be brought in uk

I wasn't really a fan of the CX300.....I would recommend looking for the Creative EP-800s...they are quite good. Buy from a well-known legitimate source though as there are loads of counterfeits (even more counterfeit CX300s out there).

I got my EP-800s from a place that ships from jersey....

My friend had some Sennheiser CX300 that I listened to very briefly, I found the bass way to strong and overpowering. I ended up getting the CX500 which after 30+hours or so really came alive, i really loved them. then they broke very recently ;)

Main problem with them and the CX300's if theyre too your taste are the amount of counterfeits. so you have to be careful. Ill be replacing them with the CX 400 II's which as far as i can tell are the same as the 500's. ( they may be the 500's replacements) and dont think there are any counterfeits of those yet.. :)

Sent you an email, if thats your correct addy i found. :)
