Windows 7 hits RC stage Build 7100

Just downloaded 7100, having never used Vista or tried any of the betas I'm loving it so far, pretty much everything worked straight after install, all I needed was a driver for my HDMI capture card and the latest Nvidia drivers.

I've just taken the plunge and gone from 32bit XP to 64bit 7. Had a few minor issues with drivers but managed to resolve them all. Also got a nice fps increase in certain games.

Are any of you using software firewalls? I previously used Comodo in XP, but I've read it causes lots of problems in w7 64bit and then won't uninstall properly.

Is anyone using any virtual drive programs like Daemon tools? Since I installed this and it says it doesn't work properly, my system has been taking longer than before to boot.

Just made the jump myself, after spending hours trying to figure out why the ISO wouldn't burn to CD-R. Oops. :o

I like it actually, feels nice and smooth compared to Vista. Taskbar is going to take some getting used to, but first impressions are good.

1) I assume WLM is gone from the tray area? When I close it it just persists on the taskbar, which is okay but not what i'm used to.

2) Should I install the drivers recommended by Windows Update? So far i've put the 9.5 Cats on from the ATI site but i'm worried about touching the others as the timestamps on them seem to be really old.

It just isn't 100% compatible yet. You can get around it by browsing into the Live Messenger program directory and setting the msnmsgr.exe to run in Vista compatibility mode :).

How do you know its not by design that it doesnt use the tray?
