I do not understand this view point. any films made after. does not change how good a movie is. It makes no sense.

The only reason AVP are rubbish, is because they are not 18. You can not have action films with anything other than an 18 rating.
 
After about 30 years we will find out where the space jockey came from and more information about the Aliens...

Ok YES its good we didnt know before because its always been a Mystery why the space Jockey spaceship crashed and what it was doing in the first place, but that was 30 years ago and thats enough speculation.

I would rather have this new Aliens movie rather than no movie at all

No, the reason the AVP movies are rubbish is they are crap stories, the monsters dont follow any of the "rules" laid down by the previous films and are badly made.

If they made them 18's, then they would still be awful, just with more guts on screen.

AVP was on telly the other night, my 13 year old step son was LAUGHING at it calling it a load of rubbish and saying things like "as if a predator would do THAT" when it starts helping that lass out.

Its a shame really, because given the right director and script writer there are a ton of half decent graphic novels and pulpy paperbacks full of Alien and predator stories that would make a decent film.
 
Love the Alien Films, 1st 2 have to be in my all time top ten films.....even if this new movie has a bad write up, I will go and watch....personally I think its great new....

There isn't anything wrong with the story line/principle. but you can't have these films as anything other than 18. Agreed you need a better director.

True

I dont think any predator or alien film will ever create that 1st suspense feeling ever, the audience will always know whats gonna appear on the screen. But will be interesting too see what they can come up with regardless !
 
Who's to say there're any humans involved in this storyline, nobody knows anything yet. Being a prequel means it could easily be based around how the Alien species originally arrived on LV426 by way of those 'Giant aliens' that we see the skeleton of in the pilots chair.
 
I like all the alien films, tho 2 is my fav cos of the marines and the loads of aliens and the setting.

Avp 2 was ok tho i just wished they make a avp with marines in or somit.
 
i actually like watching number 3 in the series more than the first two. they take to long to get anywhere.

though the scenery and shots are amazing in the first two very blade runner like
 
Could be great if the pull it off. Has massive potential to be a great story. I'd prefer it if the concentrated on the story rather than going for action.
 
AvP and The Predator movies should be considered a separate franchise. I do agree that the whole success of the original movie was the fact that no one had ever seen a monster like H.R. Giger's Alien before. The other movies in the Alien quadrilogy bring a lot of quality to the saga, I love all the other three movies in the saga and watch them all religiously.

There was an interview with Ridely Scott a year or so ago saying that the only direction he would want to take the movies would be the origin of the Aliens themselves, and the story behind the jockey in the cockpit.

Now that the movie is in the works, I just hope that Ridely has a significant role as a producer in helping this director to create a great Alien movie, which I think everyone is yearning for.
 
And what? They're making a remake of Flight Of The Navigator? I'm just getting over them remaking Total Recall as well! :(
 
Oh, you can add Short Circuit to the list of remakes as well!

Next week they'll probably be announcing writers for the remake of 2001 A Space Odyssey and George Lucas will announce that he's planning to rejeuvenate the original Star Wars trilogy to bring it more in with the new trilogy remaking it scene for scene with advanced special effects in order to utilise the original actors faces. (These last two may not happen but Short Circuit is definitely true)

I have heard rumblings of Robert Rodriquez rebooting the Predator franchise too.

And sorry, for going slightly off topic :)
 
Rodriquez is producing, and the lame part is theres going to be more than 1 predator. The whole point about the original character of the predator was stealthy solatary hunter. It never works when you remake a movie and break all the rules.
