Speed cameras for cyclists

"With the current trends in obesity, I have noticed that just two pedestrians can take up the entire width of the prom thus not permitting cyclists to pass.

I propose that health care professionals with portable cameras be stationed along the prom and those people suspected of having a body mass index over 30 be provided with advice and information on how to lose weight."

this idea is ridiculous, but the fact it's 10mph is even worse

i cruise at around 25km/h, 10mph is just retarded

i cant imagine they will have actual police officers on the prom, so i would have a hard time imagineing how the hell they would stop me if i was going 11 mph. i certinly wouldnt give them any of my details if they asked for it.

I wasn't aware there was a 10mph speed limit :o

Easily go over that on my daily commute.

First of all, my initial responces :

Wow, that is some serious FAIL.

Then:

I fully agree, 10mph is pathetically slow, might as well just run. I cruise at about 20km/h, but in a hurry I do 35-40kph for short distances, when cycling down from a bridge I managed 56 kph once according to the cycle computer :).

Are they gonna put points on my cycling license?
Indeed.

First of all, how are they going to find the offenders, secondly, what the hell do they want to do to repeating offenders? Take away their bike ?

Hit me at 10mph and there's an 80% chance that everything will be ok. Hit me at 20mph and there's an 80% chance you will fly forward and hit your crotch on the handlebars.
THINK!

Not if you're wearing your seatbelt.

Ummmm wait.

Any caught flouting the rules will be provided with advice and information on the seafront rules.

"Thankyou for the advice, officer. Won't do it again." *Neeeeeyooooooowwwm!*

I've never been to Bournemouth's promenade but I'm guessing it's not a road but an area full of pedestrians on a sunny afternoon. Sure, 'speed cameras' are a bit extreme but requiring bikes to slow down in such an area isn't a bad idea.

This is the most retarded thing I've ever heard. Whats next?
Lets remove stones from all the beaches in the UK because children who wear no shoes might stub a toe.
What about unicyclers? Roller Bladers? People who run over 10mph?
