Recommendations for PC to text and vice versa

I want to send a text message to a mobile phone from my PC. I can find many websites for it. What I'm looking for is recommendations about which one to use. I don't want to sign myself and the other person up to spam central. The other way would be handy too, so I could read text messages from them on my PC.

I don't. If I had a phone, I'd be sending texts with it instead. No point looking for a way to send texts to a phone from my PC if I had a phone.

www.cbfsms.com allows you to send texts. But it gets busy often and places a small text advert at the end of the message.

People have used it in the past to SMS me, and I haven't had spam messages.

Thanks. That's what I was looking for - someone who's used a particular SMS<-->PC service and not been spammed. That site is clear about where the money is - every SMS sent from there advertises the site and the site is paid for hosting adverts. It also advertises the site's premium service, which of course you have to pay for. Any such site has to at least cover their costs and I'd rather use one that does it that way than one that does it by selling users' details.
