I think what you're saying is, you can't beat the experience of seeing, hearing and smelling the cars in the flesh, wherever that may be. I agree, but with other options open, silverstone seems a little pants in comparison to other european tracks. Guess we'll have to see how donnington turns out, if at all.

Yeah pretty much. Here's hoping for Donnington eh?

We always go in club silverstone and the views from the stand are carp, luckily they have 2 giant tv's surrounded by bars so it's all good.

Silverstone had lots of Grandstands, and a few grassy banks, the toilets are new and the roads around the track are tarmac.

Spa has very few grandstands, with the rest of the track jsut surrounded by grassy banks, and toilets that are concrete block huts with gravel paths everywhere.

And I much prefer Spa

You cant just say "chuck loads of money and build loads of grandstands" and expect it to make the track great. Especially seen as sitting on a bank costs £150, whereas sitting in a grandstand in the same place as the bank once was would gost well over twice that.

I hate the fact they have stuck a perminent grandstand at Club corner, its reduced the general admission bank by half. Botton line is, there are a hell of a lot more people in the world who simpluy cant afford £300 tickets. As long as the banks are steep and high enough, I say leave them. The reason I scrapped going to the Nurburgring this year is that there is nearly zero general admission viewing points, and im not prepaired to pay £300 for a grandstand seat.

At home in front of the biggest TV you can get.

You don't have to deal with anytyhing at Silverstone then. ;)

The atmosphere on the bank at Club in 2007 when Lewis stuck it on pole just simply could not be portrayed on TV. Its this that makes going to the tracks worth it.

The standing ovation he got after his storming drive in GP2 from the back of the pack on 2006 is another example.

You stay at home to watch the race, you go to the track to be a part of the race.

There is no reason why a grandstand seat has to cost more than a bank ...

But I forget, for F1 the venue has to pay for the privilege of hosting the event; rather than the event organisers paying for the privilege of using a venue.
