Why is it we can't have a no rain drought style summer for once

We are an island, we can get water from the sea like Dubai and so on
Even then something would go wrong. I swear a few years ago in a wet summer we still had water shortages. "Wrong type of rain" my arse.
Yeah we seem to get 'water shortages' way to easy. We never seem to plan ahead in this country.
Because this is the UK, the weather is always mental (which is why we talk about it so much), and I wouldn't have it any other way 
Just be glad the Gulf Stream and the Azores High choose to wander up in our direction, or we'd have barely any summer at all...

Metoffice says it's summer from June 1st.
I thought it was 21st June which is the June solstice..
Think the met office uses a different definition though!
