Out of the two cars mentioned (Clio 172 or 206 Gti 180), which would you all go for?

Im considering getting a new car soon (currently have a Focus ST170) and am considering one of these.

Obviously the 172 is very cool but what do people think of the Pug? I saw one coming home tonight and it did look very cool (just needs lowering a tad).

What are peoples opinions on these?

Cheers,

Edward

Could someone briefly explain the differences between the 172 and 182 apart from the bhp obviously?

Yeh, I thought the 172 would be preferred over the gti, but wasn't sure if it was any good.

Many thanks,

Edward

Is it still widely regarded that a 172 Cup is the one to have if you cant get a 182 Trophy? Ive not looked into the Clio "scene" for awhile but it used to be the case that the 172 cup was the best choice.

Really?

I think I'd recommend a 172 non Cup the differences aren't massive in terms of go, as has been said before the Cup weight saving is made of fail and they are a lot lower specced?

I'd personally say a 182 with both cup packs, similar price to a gti-180.

All the benefits of a 172, but better, and racing blue rocks.

172 cup is good no doubt about it, but no abs, frankly horrible looking seats, and only climate on the rare few that had it specced makes it a no from me. Best wheels out of the Clio 1x2 bunch though.

Of course I actually would say a phase one 172 but no one likes those :p

The gti 180 isn't as bad as people are making out imho, go quite well.

I always found that the Cup was a more fun drive. As for the weight saving, I never really had issue with it, except the time I drove the length of the M4 in the height of the 2004 summer. that was a sweaty journey. The Cup is certainly encouraging but a less forgiving drive.

172 Cup, Trophy or Williams are the best pics of the bunch if you're looking for a RS edition that will stand out.

How does the Cup stand out anymore than another 172? Apart from having different alloys and naffer seats and no xenons I don't see how. The difference between the 172 and Cup on track is negligable sorry but the 172 Cup doesn't do it for me at all
