Which i7 OC Bundle? (If Just Air Cooled) Old games run too fast?

Hi,
Can you help a beginner please? I'm just about to order one of the i7 Overclocked Bundles :

1.*OVERCLOCKED* Intel Core i7 920 2.66Ghz (Nehalem) @ 3.33Ghz / Gigabyte EX58-UD3R Intel X58 / OCZ 6GB DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Gold (3x2GB) Triple Channel DDR3/ Noctua NH-U12P Bundle
or
2.*OVERCLOCKED* Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 2.66Ghz @ 4.00GHz / Gigabyte EX58-UD5 Intel X58 Motherboard / OCZ Gold 6GB DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz DDR3 Bundle

Option 2 looks faster, BUT I'm Worried about:
*I only want air cooling (I have an Antec 900 Case with 4 fans). Will 4.00Ghz get too hot?
*What about old games - will they run too fast with it? (On Ghost Recon 2 I know someone who was accused of cheating as their character ran too fast - they discovered this was due to an OCd i7).
Thanks a lot for any advice

Option 2 due to D0 stepping and faster RAM.

Cooling should be OK with top end air (TRUE/Tuniq/Noctua) and games characters will not move any faster, you may get more fps so I think the chap you know about was tinkering in another way, but certainly not due to oc'd cpu else everyone on this forum would be 'cheating' ;)

Options 2 here too, better option by far, as to the games, you wont run faster than anyone else cos of ur PC speed, its limits in the game, if that was really happening I would think he probably was actually cheating :S.

I essentialy built option 2 a short while ago and mine is running at 82 degrees max under occt with a true with two moctua p12 and a coolermaster haf

Thanks for your help!

I'm worried that the 4GHZ runs at 80 degrees + At the moment my old Athlon CPU runs around 30 degrees so you will understand why it seems a big jump for me. That's why I was tempted by the slower OC'd i7 (3.33MHZ). But then you know more than I do and so I really appreciate any advice you can offer to avoid me getting it wrong.

I agree - bundle 2 is the one! Get that D0 chip, they are excellent OC'ers, and in an Antec 900 it should be cool enough. Temp wise I try to keep 80 degrees as a max - in the last few days my temps did go up to about 82, but then ambient temps were that much higher and the max temp was only when benching - even games like Crysis don't max it out in the same way.

Thanks Guys - much appreciated!

Anyone have problems running older games with an o/c i7 (Rome Total War, Silent Hunter etc)?

Thanks!

Oh Dear!!

I didn't mean to cause offence ("1000th time"- bad day? LOL). Simply I asked for help about whether or not my basic air cooled system would be good enough to cope. The games question is a fair question as technology moves on (My all time favourite was "M1 Tank Platoon" for example - once I upgraded to an Nvidia 280 (which no longer uses GLIDE) then the game stopped working. Sorry if this irritated - it's just a plea for advice from more knowledgeable people than me.
Thanks to all who have helped,

Max
