Only through a 100m stretch of road in Jersey at night club hours, other wise I keep it unlocked in case there's an emergency need to open to the door or I get in the crash and it's whats stopping people helping, getting me out. You never know!
Ford didn't have it turned on in my Mondeo but you can turn automatic locking on yourself by following a simple procedure. (Works on the focus as well, possibly others)
Now they lock when I drive off, which freaks a few people out for some reason.
Nope, if i was in greece where hitch hikers will quite often jump in the back seat at the lights i probably would.
My dads one does it automatically, it's annoying though, because to let someone in you have to lock and unlock the doors, seems totally pointless in the UK, how many people dive in your car? or carjack you?
I believe a lot of BMW's used to automatically lock as soon as you start moving and then release in the event of any impact- triggered in the same way as airbags/rollbars etc I guess.
I do only as to protect the person that tries to open my door to have a go at me. If that door opens it would be a very dark day for that said person. I also cannot afford to be prosecuted so it's for my safety as well.
My mother does it if she leaves her bag in the passenger footwell to stop any opportunists. A lot of cars nowadays have autolocking doors anyway.
Weirdly I live in not such a bad area, but hitch-hikers will still try and open the doors to the car - it's happenned on a couple of occasions now, when I'm sitting at lights. So when I'm on my own and I'm pulling up to a set of lights and there's someone there I'll hit the locks and leave them on until I got home.
On the one occasion if my friend hadn't of seen the person and hit the lock, some stranger would have been sitting next to me in my car! He actually tried to open the door!
I don't understand why the BMW cars lock when they go over 10mph, doesn't it make sense for them to lock when they are going slower than 10mph to stop people nicking stuff in slow moving traffic?
