So, 26k miles on the clock with 11k until next service at which point, BMW deem it feasible to replace the cars air filter for the first time!!!!
In my mind, I knew this was "c'est ridicule" so I spent the £30 on a genuine BMW air filter and spent 45 minutes today replacing it. The amount of trim, that needed removing was again, a complete joke.
This is what came out:
I'm not sure any of you will be able to tell them apart, but it's the left one which is old.
How BMW can expect this is suitable is beyond me really.
Oh, and here is what was left behind after the filter came out.
Grit, leaves and what looks like the remains of a bat
Anyway, all clean now and certainly a noticeable difference from picking up low down in the revs
