Istanbul - TURKEY Grand Prix 2009 - Race 7/17

Still got to go for button for the win. he's proved this year that he has the consistence and brawn has the tactics to win. RBR seem to mess up tactics and their drives just don't seem to have the consistency, unless it's raining.

Aye but three of those have been Massa who was in a car that, along with the McLaren's, was miles ahead of the field. Vettel has never lead this GP and has little experience up front. He also crucified his tyres in Monaco and I have to say, BrawnGP seem to have the tactical edge over RBR as things stand. If Button is within 3 seconds of SV when they go into the first stop, he will be past and will win the race as Brawn will know the fuel loads to put in to match off SV's strategy for the second stint.

Close one mind, should be a decent race :D

So yeah, Vettel for the win tomorrow

I actually would say that Button/BrawnGP are favourites. I say this before and after each race - those BrawnGP cars are just too damn fast in the race and it would need some "incident" to occur, for anybody else to get a win. If it rains, then Vettel will be favourite, but on a dry track, I honestly cant see how a non-BrawnGP car can win a race right now.

Button should win the World Championship with ease.

If it was still 10-6-4 I would agree with you but all it takes is a couple of DNFs and Rubens to score highly and Rubens is leading the title.

I would find it higly amusing if button won 10 races this year and unreliability had rubens nick it with 3 wins. The British press would go nuts and bernie would keep saying told you so for his medal system :D

10-8 never makes it as clear cut when you have reliabilty to consider.

BrawnGP is super fast AND super reliable. Unless some freak incidents occur, Button should win the title by a considerable margin this year.

Even more impressive will be the advantage with which the BrawnGP will win the Constructors Title. Its been a while since I've seen such dominance. I think the last time was in 2004, when Ferrari dominated.

Considerable margin from every but rubens maybe. Its a joke that he could win 10gps and rubens come 2nd in all those and still only be 20 points ahead. It also means unlike other years it's not going to be until the very end that it would be mathmatically impossible for rubens to win and start supporting.

I will be amazed if they both stay reliable and Jenson is more than 25 points ahead by the end of the season.

The constructors is all but over though If no dramas happen.

Am very jealous of anyone who gets to go to Silverstone this year, shortly to be unemployed means I cant afford it.

Race is shaping up to be a potential good un, I promise not to do any raindances and am hoping for minimal carnage on the opening lap.

As for commentary, when Leggard starts to annoy me too much, I just switch it to CBBC commentary, a few minutes of that and im giggling like the big kid I am.
:D

will try for a friday ticket for you to knip probably the best i can do at this late stage

Strange from a man who said that "no car released so late has a chance of being competitive",lo and behold brawn and Red Bull are the fastest cars on the track.

still waiting for the hat eating evidence. :D

The BrawnGP car broke all the previous rules:

1. It was released late and was immediately faster than everybody else (who had been testing for many many weeks before)
2. The previous year, Honda were nowhere, and their follow-up car went right to the front. From the back of the grid to the front, in the course of a single Winter - I dont believe that has ever happened.
3. With minimal testing, the car is one of the most reliable. In fact, I dont think I've seen/heard any reliability problems from the BrawnGP cars. Normally, miles and miles of testing is what irons out reliability problems. Not so with the BrawnGP.
4. With the team in total disarry (they didn't even know if they would race at all in 2009), it was reasonable to expect that the car they produce wouldn't be the best on the grid. I was wrong to expect this.
5. History over the previous 2 years suggested that Honda knew how to make turkeys. Nobody expected them to be able even produce a car that was so good. Heck, the car doesnt even need KERS to compete and beat the KERS cars.
6. At a very late stage in its design cycle, the car was altered to be fitted with Mercedes engines, as opposed to the Honda engines, for what the car was originally designed for. I expected late design change to compromise the car's speed, even further.

With all the above, I believed that Honda would produce a car that would be competing for places outside of the points.

I was wrong.

Thankyou but dont worry, Im not allowed week days off during term time due to my job. (which I will still have for another 2 and a bit weeks then)
It means a lot that you'd be willing to do that though. Much appreciated. :)

No problem, on a side note. Its about time they had a female avatar for members.

1, Button
2, Barrichello
3, Webber

The RBR wear tires out to fast and I can see button taking Vettel on the first few
corners or after 8 laps when his tires are gone(monaco anyone)

Love to know where you get your info from,i assume you are judging our cars performance on Monaco where we first ran a interim diffuser? Guess what sherlock, Monaco is notorious for eating tyres, let alone on a untested diffuser set-up.

Is the RBR gearbox still upside down?
I heard on the TV that this was a problem something to do about
