4870 sorry the reason i am asking is a have a 4879 512 atm , and i dont know wether to sell it and get a 1 g 4870x2 1gb or just buy another 512 4870 a crossfire them

it will cope with that res, but if you can get a 1GB card. im assuming you dont already have the GPU

i have got a 512 at the moment but it struggle with say crysis (yes i know)and i am getting ARMA2 i have herd its a monster resourse hog as well so hats the dillema , sell the 512 ans go for a 1 gb 4870x2 , or just but another 512 4870?

that will depend on your motherboard and its chipset

p35 or nforce 6/7= sell and get a 4870x2

x38, p45 or x48 = consider 2nd card if selling doesnt return a decent price

Some of the more recent games like more than 512mb but it depends on your game preference. 8 times out of 10 512mb will be enough with the 4870.

How much are you going to be playing Crysis?

Buy ARMA2 first and check the performance and if you not happy decide then.

Well technically you could crossfire a 1gb with a 512mb but the computer than causes the 1gb to be the same as the 512mb memory wise.

ive been playing Arma 2 on a 4870 512mb and to get a desent fps you must play game on normal settings if you go high then its really stuttery.
this is on a 28" monitor.

I also have a 512 but I had a patner one it seems to be faulty (with the way I tested it) so I m down to one and it does struggle at times cos i game with AA X4 on not sure if i should get two 1Gb or just upgrade to HD4890s or X2s

I m just torn between the X2 and the HD4890s (two of them

) I have a x48 board so i might as well utilise it

I used ot have two HD4870 512s but one been thrown out as its dodgy, so I might as well upgrade. Just not sure what is best for me at the moment.

I do like to play with all the bells and whisles

Could I ask a question or two, I'm buying a complete new rig sometime soon for ArmaII and I'd like to know is One card x2 GPU's better than having two Cards in SLI?

I've never really been a fan of SLI as I've read that some games don't like it does that hold true for cards with two GPU's on them?
