The photo is completely unedited and was taken at Ullswater just after a thunderstorm. However, I can't decide whether i like this photo or not...

likewsie, i'd say it has the makings of a good shot, just needs tweaking. Would lend itself to HDR if you had the same photo at a range of exposures?

I agree with the first crop but dont take to much away as you are destroying the location and you want your image to tell you a little tale and the location is key to that.
is it a well executed photograph.. no but it may be precious if of a family member.

It's my little 5 year old daughter fishing and the 5 minutes of sunlight we had that day.......

i agree, i think it looks best uncropped, its a nice picture with a bit of tweaking it will be a great picture.

had a quick play, its a bit rough round the edges as im still in bed and about 4 meters away from my monitor, but just an idea for you.

had a play with the levels, saturation, colour tone to make it a bit warmer, cloned bits out and finaly gave it a sharpen.

I think a square crop with the boy to the bottom-right of the frame and everything above still included looks good. To me he's the focus of the picture and gets a bit lost in the centre. A square crop also gets rid of the branches to the top-right which I find distracting.
