Halfords Car Batteries Any Good?

they did well in the auto express tests. my previous battery was a tiny gsf own brand item bought in 2001 which i replaced in 2008 at the start of winter

that was a bargain

Sold me the wrong type for my car, my trade card netted mea 50% discount thoguh, try to scam them out of a trade card first.

Never had a problem with their batterys or their warrenty on them when I used it once.

Must just be lucky!?

Got one in my ST as my old one died coincidentally right outside. Had it about 6 months, no problems.

Halfords batterys are made by varta so pretty good. Warrantys are good but dont expect them to change the battery over if its just flat.

I have had a Halfords battery for over a year, and it's been fine. The terminals are the other way round to those on the OEM battery though, which means that the +ve terminal cover very slightly obscures the bonnet prop from sitting in its resting position, and the cables are only just long enough.

The other thing I forgot to mention was that I'm looking at getting a high capacity battery as I run quite a few electrical bits, and only dio fairly short runs in it.

I have seen a Varta Silver Range one, and Halfords to a High Capacity Lead one.

My mate bought me one with his trade card, it's never given me any hassle since. It's not a perfect fit for my car, but it's the correct voltage / current, so they gave me an adaptor.

A plank of wood. :D

Then buy the best battery you can afford.

What brands are best though? I don't have much experience and can't find many usefull ratings on the net. I'm just going on what is available locally at the moment...Any suggestions?

Cheshire batteriesClicky, ask how much a Hawker Odyssey AGM battery would be for your car. For mine it was cheaper than the OEM but the performance kicks the OEM into the weeds(probably more that you will ever need:D).
