Hey all

I just re updated my drivers through the Microsoft Update website, and now when I turn on my PC, is shows all the black and white loading screens, then the Windows Loading screen, but then turns off when the PC loads to the desktop, but I can still hear the PCs Windows loading Sound.

I'm using Windows XP, a 8800GT graphics card and a Samsung SyncMaster 223BW.

Any help would be amazing!

Thanks.

Little bit of a development...

I just plugged my TV in as the main monitor, and as soon as the Windows Loading Screen goes off to load my desktop, it cuts the signal and my TV then shows NO SIGNAL.

So it's just cutting the signal?

Any ideas? :/

Sounds like something to do with the gfx card to me, did you update the gfx drivers via the Windows Update site?

Maybe try going back to ''last known good config'' via F8 at startup, or boot into safe mode and try uninstalling the drivers installed via Windows Update.

Just a guess really though :)

have you tried safemode? windows might just be configured to do something wierd... it's not unprecedented.

Safemode wouldn't load either for some reason! :S Kept pressing F8 through the startup, but just carried on like normal.

you need to keep hammering it as soon as the bios post screen disappears.

alternatively, try booting up with the monitor disconnected, and when you think it ought to have gotten to the desktop, plug the monitor back in.

Yeah, it must be the graphics card :/

Just re-seated it, and now the monitor's light is flashing as if my PC is turned off. Really weird :/

Plug your monitor into the other socket. You may have accidentally switched the outputs.

That isn't the problem or the BIOS screen wouldn't be showing :)

Safe mode wouldn't start with my USB keyboard, so using an old input keyboard now as that seems to work (USB Keyboard probably wasn't support in the BIOS).

In safe mode now, will update soon.

BIOS screen shows on both DVI outputs. ;)

Once windows is loaded it switches to whatever output you've chosen. Either port1, port2 or dual.

Well I tried both anyway :)

But it's sorted now... Just got another completely different problem which I was trying to sort in the first place, but I'll make a new thread for that as it's a different section.

Thanks all for your great help! :)
