Same. Was a lot of fun just working toward achievements whilst playing normally. But I didn't really care for the sidegrades anyway, I was in it more for the achievements themselves.

Random unlocks and achievement servers just don't do it for me.
 
Thats why I unlock only the milestone achievements, get the weapons, yet still have all the acheviements to get through playing normally. And it means I can actually play normally, rather thann spending time idling or playing badly as some of the achievements encorage.
 
Its strange, I play spy and pyro a lot, so I know how to counter and find out spy's, but aslo know how not to get caught by a pyro.

Theres no real way not to get caught by a pyro since lately they just all seem to run with the left mouse buton held in.
 
Soldier and Demoman ARE the best classes no doubt :)

Without a decent couple of them your bound to lose, they are too 'rounded' to be left out :p

They don't have unlocks yet but still the most fun :p
 
A good medic & demo/soldier combo can work very well. Also handy if you have a good engy or two on your team with level 3 teleporters etc. Those are the most important four classes to win imo.
 
Soldiers are the best class. So annoying too. 90% of my deaths are to soldiers with their point blank one shot kills.

i find myself playing Demoman more than anything else though. Very versatile at offence and defence.
 
Sure the soldier is a good class but I just don't feel quite as comfortable playing him and don't find the soldier fun to play. I do however enjoy playing heavy, sniper and a bit of spy. I also go demoman if nobody else does. ;)
 
Soldier is my second most played class, narrowly following after pyro. They're great for killing SGs from range.
I agree that a half decent Demo/Medic pair can really dominate.

Always had a leaning towards it, especially when the game first came out it was the only class I played
 
Is it strange that I dreamt about TF2 last nite?

Is it more strange that I dreamt that I unlocked some new Pyro Gloves that looks like hard core marigolds and some new Spy Shoes that looked like mocasons? I even dreamt I took screen shots and posted them here....
 
A damn decent medic and pyro combo are a serious PITA, they take down a sentry in no time, where as a soldier and medic, the soldier takes at least 3 to 4 rounds of rockets to dismantle the sentry and any oncomming enemies. The pyro swoops through sentries and enemies like hot knife through butter.

The counter against a Medic/Pyro combo are some good long range attackers. Unfortunately most snipers focus on killing other snipers, so your kinds stuck hoping someone gets lucky with rockets or a heavy. There a right PITA if your an engineer, as all your stuff dies in seconds!
