I heard you cant park cars with tents. Anyone who went last year, could you tell me how far it is to walk from carpark/field to camping area? I got loads of gear to take.

depending on where you park at how slow your walking due to lugging stuff about id say about 20 - 30. Also depends how far away your tent is because you turn up late etc

edit : on avg probably a bit longer maybe 40 ?

We'l arrive on Thursday around 19:00-20:00 with tent.
What about stuff getting stolen, i.e the foldup fishing chairs, BBQ & meat etc. I could put it i the tent (its big enough). Also alcohol, il leave that in the car.

at festivals theres nothing you can do, most likely thing to go missing is alcohol, but you wont wanna make the trip back to the car just to get booze so id say take it. chairs etc wont get nicked, just dont leave any valuables in your tent

D'you reckon it'll rain all weekend? I just looked at the forecast...thank God my tent is waterproof.

I'm pretty certain it's gonna rain for the entire weekend. The best we can hope for is sporadic 'sunny spells'...

If it DOES rain heavily, pack some wellies, especially if everything gets churned up. You may feel like a *** wearing rubber boots, but ultimately you'll be grateful for them.

the site layout has changed again this year, so no real knowledge as to the length from car park to campsite. it shouldn't be much over 20 mins from car park to campsite entrance (although obv longer if you're getting to the other side of the camp)

They're doing the track up for the British Formula 1 GP so I'll be interested to see what's going on with that.

Damn it, haven't been and it rained since 2003!

Oh, if you know anyone that wants a weekend ticket (no camping) let me know.

Arriving on a thursday means your going to be walking for ages, and that's after you get into donington park :p

We are going down about 10:30 on wednesday morning.

Hi, sorry to hijack the thread,
I havea day ticket for friday and very much looking forward to the event, rain or shine. I have a few q's to ask, if i may just to clear my head of any cognitive dissonance.
1) I want to take some beer to the event, i know i cant take glass in so cans for ther win. Are you allowed to take cans into the music arena ?, or do you have to disguise ones alcohol to get it past the "man" ?
2) I have friends who are camping, who I would like to see at their tents, am I able to go and see them at all ? I dont want to stay there, just see them for a beer or two. Will this be possible witha day ticket ? is there a way around this ?
cheers
KJ

1) I might be wrong, but it's plastic bottles only in the arena area. I think you can take your own alcohol, just don't drink and drive, m'kay.

2) You won't be allowed into the camping fields without a camping wristband.

PK!

Hi there, as I remember from the last few years:
1) Cans are fine on campsite, but water bottles/arena bought drinks in the arena only
2) Unfortunately you can't get into the camping area without the right wristband to prevent people sneaking in. I mean it's not impossible to get in, but you're 95% not going to be able to. Only way I can think is if one of your mates manages to get his wristband off, gives it to your other mate who comes and fetches you, you put the wristband on and get in with him, however the wristbands are kinda designed to stop this as much as possible. Alternatively you might be able to sneak in during the massive crowds returning after the headliners, but only if lucky.

Latest metcheck seems to a mix of sun, showers, light showers and cloudyness, rather than torrential rain so hopefully it wont be that bad! :D

I wouldn't worry too much about trying to sneak into the camping area, there's plenty of space to loaf about in the main site. Just get your mates to meet you somewhere and find a spot to crash.

Also, OFF TOMORROW! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
