I need some advice. I recently bought a Volvo v70 2000, and this weekend it went for its first motorway journey, all is good apart from there seems to be more wind noise than what i would call acceptable... I'm pretty sure it’s not normal as from reading reviews, wind noise was said to be suppressed very well.

At first I thought it was coming straight through the vents because to me it was quite loud, but I don’t think it’s that... I also thought it could be because it hasn’t got a wind deflector on the wiper blade; I may try and replace them to see if that’s a quick fix... But could it be anything else such as aging rubber seals around the edge of the windscreen? Any suggestions or experience of similar problems would be a great help

Thanks in advance.

has it recently had a windscreen?

Im not sure to be honest... I will try and find out.

I have just been out for a quick drive and im pretty sure its coming from the top horizontal seal of the front windscreen... I only bought the car 3 weeks ago but i feel this is something i should have spotted, do you think its within reason to get the garage to fix it? As i see it, it should be done free of charge... or am I being a little too optimistic?

If it's definately the windscreen i'd check my insurance and if glass is covered apply a hammer to it. At least then it will be solrted and you'll have a nice new windscreen :)

Im on a bell flexibell policy stripped to the bones so no windscreen cover anyway i dont think.
Shall ring the garage tomorrow

cheers!

Well if I'm honest I wouldn't be taking a hammer to it as I wouldn't want to be picking glass out the car for months. Might be a door seal or simply that the window rubbers do not provide a good seal.

just thought i would post an update, it was the seal around the windscreen that was at fault, had it re-selead and hey-presto... no wind noise :)
