Hi all,

Cliched long time reader, first time poster here.

I will be moving out next week into private rented accomodation with a few mates from Uni. I spent my first year commuting (Uni town is only 20 mins away by train, not as if I had to go through every day either) and have decided to live locally for this second year to benefit both my studies (more intense from this year onwards) and my social life ;)

Anyway I am paranoid about my room getting broken into. I'm on the ground floor at the front of the house, top of the street. Cars go past frequently but still.... Paranoia is a bugger.

So basicaly I need advice on what company to get Student loans from and (if possible) any people who have had experience in dealing with them in regards to makeing claims etc.

I like the look of this one www.saxoninsurance.com < Thoughts?

Thanks.

I got mine from Endsliegh, they are geared towards students and seemed a pretty reasonable price. I've never had to claim so I cant really comment on what they are like at actually giving out the money.

On a different topic, you will love living at uni and will wonder why you didnt do it last year!

I used Endsleigh during my first year in halls, and will probably use them again next year when I move into my house. Never had to make use of the insurance, but I had no problems with them and the prices seemed reasonable.

Yea I have just got a quote form Endsliegh... One payment of £104 to cover my desktop (main thing) and games, DVD's and consoles etc.

It seems too good to be true.... What's the catch? I'm a bit nervous about doing this. Never applied for anything like insurance before. Anyway Endsleigh are winning at the moment. Most other places are on an NEW for OLD policy. Urgh! My awesome PC in exchange for second hand parts should it be stolen? No thanks!

You do realise it's NEW to replace OLD, not as you suggested. They don't give you second hand products if your items get stolen ;)

Sounds about right, and there is no catch as far as I can tell. Oh, and lol, there not going to give you someones old computer if yours gets nicked:p.

Remember to take the accidental cover as well, it's always useful just in case you go on a rampage in your house.

Sorry :o Still check out the polcy for the one I linked to in my OP. Is it the same sort of deal?

My thought processing ability is lacluster today. Only had four hours of sleep. Don't you just hate restless nights? No damn reason why you can't drop off, just your body being tight.

Endsleigh seem ok, a couple of people I know had their bicyles stolen from outside and endsleigh paid up. One was paid instantly and the other took a few weeks and some hassle, but both got their claim processed in the end. I don't know if bicycle cover would be included in your proposed policy or not, but I would assume that the claim processing would be similar for you, should you ever have to claim.

I lived groundfloor and totally forgot about insurance, I'd really advise not taking too much expensive gear you don't need it.

But yeah I had Endsleigh for year 1 and they were good.

Never had a problem with them for 2 years. They were cheaper than Endsleigh for me. Never ahd to claim but their customer service to get cover amended and so on was fine.

not quite the same but i had endsleigh for my car a few years back and they were brilliant paid me out within 2 weeks of my car getting nicked and still gave me the no cliams bonus at the end of the year :D
