When will we reach the Moon, Mars, Jupiter, another star and another galaxy...

We have lunar rocks brought back by the astronauts. We have countless photos and hours of video footage. We have radio telemetry from the space flights. We have seen the 'blobs' in photos from the surface of the remains of the landers. We can shoot lasers at the moon and bounce them back off the mirror left there by the astronauts.

BTW I said i want to believe not that I dont.

Please include some links I would like that interesting if I'm honest to see photos of the landing sites etc.

I think we need anti-matter/matter engines like in Star Trek. Or in the episode of star trek i watched the other day some advance beings used ION POWER! We need to get some of this stuff and invent warp speed.

I was beaten up by classmates on the command of my teacher when I proposed warp speed in a physics lesson.

As much as it breaks my heart to say it, we'll never get into space en-masse.

Greed, self interest and human nature will end our insignificant little species before we leave this rock.

In some circles it's common knowledge that test flights to the end of the star system were being done back in the 70s/80s using exotic technology. NASA is nothing more than a big PR act.

If they could land on the moon like 40 years ago. How come they haven't since then? Is it a really hard mission? I'm sure their technology has advanced loads.

- A human lands on the Moon again 10 YRS
- A human lands on Mars 20 YRS
- A human reaches Jupiter (Arthur C Clarke said we'd already be there ) 50 YRS
- A probe or human reaches another star 80 YRS
- A probe or human reaches another galaxy 150 YRS

There is simply no reason to do so. It would cost to much, and would be of little benefit at the moment.
I seriously doubt we will be getting out of the solar system any time soon, and I'd guess it will be at least a couple of thousand years until
a human flight to the kuiper belt is possible.

Closest star is about 50 light years away, so getting a probe there would only take 100 years, and thats just 1/2 light speed. Thats with current tech.

Closest star is 96 million miles away (jk). Proxima Centaur is only 4 light years away. Space probes can't travel at half the speed of light. Voyager 1 is only at about 35,000 miles per hour or something and that has had gravitational boosts from a number of planets and has had over 30 years to accelerate to that speed. Light travels at 186,000 miles per second!

NASA and the Russians are attempting a manned mission to Mars by 2030. So most of us will see it.

Yea at least, we would need warp drive or some sort of device that could turn space craft massless so we could travel at the speed of light. Supplies needed for a return flight of that distance would be on another level.

why on earth would anyone want to go to jupiter

and what's the point of reaching it if you're not going to land on it, u may aswell send a probe

The nearest star is alpha centauri and it's ~4 light years away.
The fastest man made object travel at a fraction of 1% of the speed of light and not 150,000 meter per second as you claim.

They were called Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 and it took all of the 70's and 80s for them to get there.

I've posted this in another thread. Allegedly there was a base or some sort of ET presence up there and they followed the astronauts all the way back to earth. Some sort of warning was given to those concerned that humans wouldn't be welcome on other planets with our current level of ethics.

There prepared to let us kill, conqour, invade, play wargames, rape the earth of it's resources on our own planet, but they won't let us collectively go out and do the same to other planets.

The blowing up of the Challenger space shuttle was also done as a symbolic warning by ETs that we're in no position to 'challenge' space.

I fear you're probably right, and actually share a similar sentiment to you.

Blind optimism! :D It's good to see some people so eager and positive. :)

Would like to add: When will humans land on a planet similar enough to Earth to be inhabitable (not necessarily inhabited)?
