Hi

I have had my car check by two garages one was my local garage and one was Nissan dealer.

My car a few days ago is lacking in power almost like I am towing something.

It pulls ok from 0.30 ish ok but after that when you start to notices the power loss,on a long straight road I can get the car to up around 65-75 but that's it then the car keeps changing gear as its struggling to accelerate.

the main dealer could not find a fault with the car aftter they plug it into there computers but did a reset on the ECU and also reset it to re-learn mode?

I have no warning lights on the dash and been told its possible autobox problem but seems abit unlikely at 38K and on a 04 plate car.

Also been told could be the mass air sensor.

Is there any body around who has had this problem or is there an expert on Nissan as I don't wont to be changing parts for the sake of changing them.

also to add the gear box seems fine changing gears revs little bit high but think that's down to the lack of power when trying to accelerate

also revs fine in neutral

It'll be the MAF sensor as the dealer and the above poster said.

Anyone know if you can do the same check with the MAF on an Almera as you do on a Subaru, the one that involves unplugging it while the engine is running. (OP: don't try this until someone confirms)

How surprising, an totally incompetent main dealer unable to find their arse with both hands and a map

It might be the MAF sensor, the symptoms are certainly typical but it could also be a number of other faults. Have you noticed any other changes such as high fuel consumption, overheating, strange smells or noises?

I notice you've had this problem since February! Has it become any better/worse?

Hi

Thanks for the help going to give cleaning the MAS a try.

I have notice the fuel consumption is higher then normal but no smells or noises.

Would the the garage putting the ECU into re-learn mode when it was still faulty cause an extra problem?

The ECU will learn its parameters when it's been reset, but its not a mode per-se.

You should be able to run it without the MAF connected to diagnose
