World Twenty20 Matches **Spoilers**

nah, don't think we're gonna get them back in all honesty.

Great to see the Aussies go out though after Ponting's comments about not wanting to be twiddling their thumbs up in Leicester. Unlucky :p

Whats the script for today then, Pakistan have to win by a certain margin? They are batting first so how much would they need to make, and how much would they need to restrict Netherlands too?

Ok nevermind, just heard on the radio. Pak need to post a decent score and then restrict Netherlands to 75% of their score.

So if Pak get 200, they need keep Netherlands below 150. Let's see if they take today seriously. :rolleyes::mad:

:p

It's all done on net run rate which is calculated as follows:
(Runs scored by team / Overs faced) - (Runs scored against team / Alloted Overs)

At the moment, Pakistan have a Net run rate of -2.4, and Netherlands 0.05.

So to calculate NRR need to take into account the following:

a = pakistan score
b = overs pakistan faced
c = Netherlands score
d = overs Netherlands faced

And you end up with a formula like this, using their current totals:

Pakistan NRR = (137 + a/40) - (185 + c/20 + d)
Netherlands NRR = (163 + c/40) - (162 + a/20 + b)

It gets more complicated because if Netherlands are bowled out within 20 overs or vice versa. Assuming they both face 20 overs you can use:
PNRR = (137 + a/40) - (185 + c/40)
NNRR = (163 + c/40) - (162 + a/40)

PNRR = (-48 + a - c)/40
NNRR = (1 + c - a)/40

Could easily stick the first formula into excel actually, that would work easily enough.

Oh dear. I've spent far too much time on this.

Can you explain the D/L method for me now please?;)

Well well well looks like Pak has turned up for a game...well the real Pak team...Afridi is doing something worthwhile...did ok with the bat, got us 13 extra runs but his bowling is back!!!! 4 wickets for 11 runs...thank god hes finally showed up.

Guess one consolation we can take is that we have done what England should have done a few days ago:p.

Nice win for us...although we made a meal of it...our batting was mediocre at best and today our spinners won us the match...Afridi finally decided to pick up some wickets...4:D and even Saeed chipped in with 3.

But still we didnt do ourselves any favours...our fielding is utter **** altho Akmal decided to turn up as well today.

If we had Yousef, Nazir, Razzaq, and Rana i think we would have a team that could have possibly won this...we got lucky and got through at the expense of the Dutch..but i dont think we have a real chance against NZ or Sri Lanka..even Ireland will push us as well...they have a WC victory on us:p.

Still anything could happen so fingers crossed Pak's finally decide to play some 20/20 cricket and not test type cricket:p:D.

No one can explain duckworth-lewis calculations. You've got more chance making sense out of a magick conspiracy theory :D

I wouldn't rule Pakistan out now - anything can happen in these tournements, but India and SA are my favourites at this point. Sri Lanka would be up there but I don't think they have enough depth in their batting.

NZ need 8 from 2 balls!!

Really low score from SA aswell.

edit---------->

4 from 1!!

That was :D :D

SA to win despite Kallis playing classic test-style 4-an-over 'let's see what it looks like at 17 overs' cricket!
