I bought myself a couple of rats yesterday, and so did my housemate. We think they have parasites, so I went out and bought some anti-parasite drops stuff for rats.

However on the way home I read the packaging and noticed that it says for rats that are over 300 grams. The rats we have are only about 6 weeks old, so probably don't weight 300 grams.

This is the one I have bought: click. The one for hamsters + gerbils (anything below 300g) is this one (for Hamsters): click. Looks like the only difference is 150ug pipette vs 25ug pipette. Now I don't want to cause them to overdose on this stuff, so maybe I should apply just a quarter of the tube/pipette instead of a full one?

The shop is absolutely miles away so I don't particularly want to walk back right now.

Much appreciated if someone can help.

to play it safe i wouldnt use it until they weigh the correct amount for the drug prescribed. Why do you think they have a viral infection?

He said a parasitic infection, which sounds like it would probably kill them or prevent them from growing healthily until they reach 300g.

If the ingredients/chemicals etc are the same in each, and the only difference is 25ug and 150ug, just use a bit less than a quarter of the pipette.

But I'd only do this is if I was 100% sure it was the same stuff.

Take them to a vet, tbh.

Those drug, by the way, are usually cyanophosphates. They're cause damage to the nervous system; now, usually, the damage is minor and mostly heals up - worth it to avoid parasitic infestations - but if you overdose it can leave lasting damage.
