having just got a dog in my flat I need a decent Vacuum Cleaner to get all the dog hair up. A dyson seems to be built really badly and comes in at 300 quid for the top of the range ones.

The flat is 2 bedroom around 65m squared (average 2 bed flat) so what can I get which will do the job, a bagless one is a must

Henry are very good cleaners, very powerful and built to work hard. We bought two of them in 1987 when we had a small hotel to run in Blackpool and still using one of them today now we have retired.

During its first 8 years of life it was in constant use every single day and still used in a small bungalow several times a week. Bought a new one for our son last month and all the parts and tools are still exactly the same shape/size as our original one which means I can pop out after all these years and purchase a new part or have it serviced without problem. I can't think of any other make of vacuum cleaner you can do this with. Very powerful too and will actually lift the carpet up off the floor when on full power. :D

dyson's aren't that badly built. we've had them for years and we only had to get a 2nd one because i broke the first one by pulling it by its power chord really hard up and down the driveway :o

Miele Cat and Dog

trust me others don't even get close

it isnt bagless but I can't see why that matters

i would go for an upright, so not a Henry.

The beater bar is the thing that i find really cleans the carpet well.

I've got a Panasonic. i have to empty it out often, but that only goes to show the level of dust and dirt it picks up. Think i've got either a 1600W or 1800W version. And it so powerful it sounds like it'll take off!

Even better is the Sebo (think it's an X1) the blue one. Amazing machine that self adjusts to the floor using sensors, and is just about the best you can get. about £250, but amazing quality. You have to put it together, but that;s easy.

Actually, Miele are very good too. Just don't chuck it down the stairs and it'll be fine.

I'd buy a Henry over a Miele any day though - great VFM and really easy/cheap to buy parts for.

Dysons are good but you have to wash the foam filter quite often to keep it at its best.
Same issue with my Vax vacuum cleaner. Unless you clean the foam filter after pretty much every use you can't run it at full power.

No no no no no no no no no no

They get stuck on things, corners doors etc, you have to put loads more effort into it than an upright - not good for lazy muthers like me - and when it does get stuck on something and you get angry with it it just sits there with that stupid smile on it's face ... which will make you want to kill.
I have a Henry and I'm going to kill it and put the video on the internet.
