Wenger needs to be sorted out!

What utter tosh.

I think its testimate to the man that he can spend so little and field such a young team and still get them into the CL each year.

We only have to look at the 07/08 season we were so close to winning the league, with a bit more luck on our side we would have won.

This season we were a bit off pace, and yet we still ended up in the CL Semi-Finals.

TBH I think when Arsene leaves he will leave us in a position far better than he found us and we will sorely miss him when he is gone.

Arsenal is being run like a business not like some rich fatcats play thing. As such making a profit and servicing our debts is of greatest importance. Once we are debt free we will be in far better financial position than much of our competition.

Wenger is one of the few managers in modern football I respect.

Although I do remember Arsenal in their peak under him. What a team to watch.

This...unlike Chelski, Man City to name but a few we havent had someone come in and try to take over although Usminov or whatever his name is still wanting to takeover.

I can kinda understand where the OP is coming from as we havent won anything for the past 4 seasons...we came close last season but thats not good enough...bit like Liverpool this yr...close but no cigar.

Im getting fed up of us not winning trophies tbh...dont get me wrong i dont want Wenger to leave or get sacked but he needs to start spending some money in the transfer market or else theres a real threat that we will become a mid table team...we were very close to losing out on the 4th place at one point...thankfully Aston Villa went through a bad patch and we got some good results but still id rather us be like we were a few yrs ago...in the top 2 rather than top 4.

Its getting tiring listening to my mates who support Man Utd and having them tell me....what have we won lately:p.

It's very annoying the lack of support and respect Arsene is getting from football fans globally at the minute. Disappointing that people can't wait to insult him and point out exactly where he's messing up. He's been immersed in football for 50 years and people still think they know better :(. When people realise that football isn't all about money and buying every superstar you can so they can sit on the bench, hopefully he'll become more popular. I personally love him and love what he's trying to do, it's refreshing to see a top manager do something other than ***** a stupid amount of money on a player who isn't really that good (Robbie Keane, Berbatov etc. etc.) just to keep the fans happy. It doesn't make business sense.

erm excuse me but the people who seem to be giving wenger grief at the moment tend to be arsenal fans not the 'global football community' who tend to hold him in fairly high regard. however, football isn't just about the business side of things and even looking at it from a business perspective then being overly prudent doesn't work in the long term either.

The press hate Arsene at the moment, it's rare to see a nice word said about him. But yes, a lot of the Arsenal fans are annoying.

And to me, what doesn't work is putting Arsenal into £600m debt, how could he do that when he has an economics degree? It goes against everything he's ever learnt. He won't financially cripple Arsenal and I like that, it's just a shame most people don't care about the money, only when it's being spent. Most of football is living in a dream world where £500m+ of debt doesn't actually seem to phase most people, at all. That's wrong.

We are actually in debt though, you know that? About £300m.

the clubs with 600m of debt hardly look like they're financially crippled currently and nor do they look they will be any time soon. how would you define financially crippled anyway? selling your best players, dropping to the point where it's almost a big 3 + 1 rather than a big 4? having a transfer budget around the £13million mark to improve when the others above you will have at least twice that?

I like Wenger, think he's worked miracles for you, but the only criticism he's really had in the press is over not spending enough cash, which, lets be honest was fuelled by your board coming out with statements about him having 30-40million to spend if he wanted it, which he's told them to stop doing as it's blatantly untrue, since then everyone has been very supportive to be honest. Don't just assume that your business plan is the correct way forward as currently you're edging towards being left behind, and the further behind you fall the more downward pressure there is on your revenues, then even with your paltry 300m or so of debt, you'd be in the crap.

Yes but it's a more manageable debt than the other clubs have though, even if things aren't going excellently.

why? the other clubs are managing 25-30m transfer budgets without owner intervention. God knows what chelsea will spend with Abramovich dipping back into his pockets.

£100 million is what i read he is ready to give to Ancelotti to spend...looking at a £40mill bid for Pato and £40mill for Aguero...whether or not that is true is another question entirely but i hope Pato doesnt come to Chelsea and neither does Aguero.

None of us know the real going-on's at the Emirates in terms of money atm, it all seems like a big mystery. I for one have no idea whether there is really money available or not, one way to make sure there's some money and that's to sell the deadwood (Adebayor & co.).

I will be quite peeved if Arsene doesn't buy 2 players this summer, but if he doesn't, he doesn't, I'd have to trust the right players weren't available.

Didn't we have an almost identical thread a month or so back? For the little it matters I think Arsene Wenger has done an absolutely exceptional job, I'd appreciate it if he wasn't quite so myopic on occasion but that's a failing common to many in football.

Most of the Arsenal Debt is debt as a result of investment in a new stadium. This debt is being managed and repaid in part by the increase in gate revenues and in part by the property being developed in Highbury.

This is not the same debt as other clubs who's debt comes from the transfer market and players wages, gambling on getting a European Place to service this debt.

As long as Arsenal come in the top 4 I'm happy.

none of the other top 4 clubs have that either though.

IIRC Man U's Debt is based upon the loan the Owners took out to buy the club in the first place,

Liverpool's owners also have burdened the club with their debt, a debt that I believe the owners have recently been reported to be struggling to service.

Chelsea are independently backed by RA, but if he decided one day to walk away from the club they will be unable to sustain their current spending on wages.

Arsenal's Debt is Arsenals Debt, not burdened by outside factors.

mm yes they do. Man U are in debt from the takeover, high wages and transfer fees. why do you think SAF is cutting down on spending recently and developing youth?

Chelsea are pretty much the same.

Liverpool seem to be tumbling, high wage bills for their players is the trouble for them.

Arsenals debt is from the stadium, they gotta pay back around £25 million a year untill 2018? Then the sponsor goes away and I think there's still afew more payments.

Arsene and his economic genius wont risk paying over the odd wages or transfer fees to risk the club going in decline.

Im proud of what he's doing, I think this summer 2-3 key signings could put us on top again.

The football is there its the consistency and experience that's needed.

no. United have debt from the takeover which is perfectly serviceable, we have no debt from transfer fees or wages, this can be seen quite clearly from our annual accounts.

Chelsea have spent big, however they've got abramovich and are not gambling on champions league football, there's no sign that Abramovich is intending on moving on and he's written off half of chelseas debt.

Liverpool have debt from a leveraged buyout, again there's been no discernible impact on their debt levels through transfer fees or wages.

Every clubs debt is 'their' debt and every clubs including Arsenals are burdened by outside factors. an economics degree doesn't make you a financial genius.
