Hi there,

Looking for a little advice. I'm looking to contact the owner of a business to file a complaint. I got told to send it via e-mail, but I know for a fact that when I ring/ e-mail them it's going straight to the lad who ripped me off.

Is there a website of registered businesses which will give me some contact details for the owner, no matter how minute they are? I ran a web whois of the company's website and have the address and phone number of the person who (i'm assuming) built their website. There's no answer at present though, but I'm hoping I can eventually get through to him and ask for some details on the owner.

Cheers

Companies house should give you some info. I don't remember about e-mail but think they do give you an address? Not sure if it's public access though and it costs 1 pound I think. Some kind soul on here might search it for you though as many companies subscribe to it.

Details of the business are here.

He told us to e-mail our complaint and the owner 'Paul' will look at it. We know for a fact all phone calls and e-mails are going to the lad who ripped me off. Spoke to citizens advice and if I can't make any progress contacting the owner, I'll be sending the company the letter they have suggested.

The lady said that trading standards will be interested as I was quoted on the phone for no more than £90/ 1.5 hours labour. Instead he kept us waiting 4 hours (he was working on a non-paying customers car and answering the phone every 5 mins). Of that 4 hours, he spent no more than 1 hour on my car. So in actual fact, I should only have paid £60 for the work he carried out - but I would have paid the quoted price. Instead, the joker wanted £150 off me. We haggled for half an hour and left paying £130 - an extra £40 under protest.

The web designer, if he has any credibility won't give you any information. You are best to go through the proper channels and email the address you were given.

It doesn't look like PD Tuning are a Limited Company but if you have a receipt it should have the Proprietors name on it which could help to track him down.

It doesn't seem right though. You have been given an email address to submit a complaint so you should do this first and take it from there.

As above, they aren't a limited company. You could send them a letter to the owner/proprietor (sp!?) and mark it as private and confidential.

Send email to "*@companydomain.co.uk" which will go to everyone at that domain :)

Receipt was just written on paper. :(

It seems the contact details from the whois are for the man who deals with their accounts - he's not giving me any details re the owner. Close, but no cigar haha.

Good thinking EVH. I'll give that a try and if I don't hear anything back, I'll get a letter sent via recorded delivery. Thanks for the advice. :)

...but I read it on the internets ;)

Funnily enough, it would have worked 2 days ago, but since our IT guys have finally gotten round to sorting the email server out to stop the millions of spam email coming through, only emails sent to registered email address' will get through. As long as the address finished @companyname.co.uk it would get through.
