At the moment these guys are coming up as the cheapest to insure my car and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with them? Are they good or should I just avoid them totally?

Thanks guys any advice would be much appreciated.

Elephant, Bell and Admiral are all part of the Admiral group and all give good quotes. Lots of people here are with Bell on their FlexiBell policies, I'm on one.

I've not had any problems, but I've not had to claim either, although from reports here they aren't too bad to deal with in the event of a claim. :)

Bell/elephant/admiral are all part of the admiral group. I've been insured with bell, not had to make a claim but have been spot on really.

Uk based call centres with british people to speak to, always been great when I've needed to phone them.

And not to mention always been the cheapest for me. If you want even cheaper insurance go for a flexibell, increases your excess slightly, also adding older people will bring the price down a fiar bit.

TOm.

edit: Lol, almost identical response. great minds think alike ;):p

That's changed from when I was insured with Elephant before. UK call centres for sales, Indian call centres for support/claims. Pretty sneaky really.

Worth bearing in mind also that Bell/Admiral/Elephant have an OEM parts replacement policy - so if you put something aftermarket on your car and tell them about it they'll charge you a suitable premium for it but should said part get stolen, damaged or whatever you'll get an OEM equivalent back. Sounds crazy but it's true!

Sounds fair enough, why should they stump up more for an aftermarket part that wasn't declared?

Just did my first 2 years with them - 21 months on a Ford Fiesta 1.4 Diesel (£900, £630) and 3 months on an RX-8 (equivalent of about £1,200). You tend to speak to people with incredibly strong accents on the phone (both local and from every corner of the globe), but they're largely pretty decent. Took them a couple of weeks to forward my NCB certificate recently, but that's the only minor gripe I've had in 2 years.

I've found they're even cheaper if you get a quote via confused.com, when I go so the quote direct at elephant it comes out more expensive (both quotes are identical except for price).

It doesn't even have to be aftermarket. I was told I had to declare any Upgraded options (from new) that my car had over a bog standard 3.0i Z4.

Crazy. I can only assume that as I said I didn't know as I bought it 5 years down the line, they will only get me standard parts back. So things like my pro audio system and built in sat-nav system wont be covered come claime time.

Either that or the woman on the phone was very, very confused.

Elephant are lose:

24 Years Old
3 ncb
Driving for 5 years

£1750 with girlfriend (two accidents one fault, driving for 3 years).
£1970 on my own

Bell (same quote site as Elephant almost):

£1450 with girlfriend.

All on the CTR. BB6 postcode = fail

I know insurance is based on statistics but how the hell is it still cheaper if you add a woman who clearly is an increased risk from her driving history?

I can only assume sexual favours at this point, becasue I find it baffling also.

Got 10 months with elephant on 1.4 rover 25 for 720. Not bad being 18 with no ncb, i was a month off 19 and added parents though.

My mtae got a similar quote but they put it up to 1200 when he rang to confirm and pay over the phone.

Their online quotes are assuming you pay in full. Add hideous APR for pay monthly sadly.
