***OcUK Fifa 09 (PS3) Cup II - The Official Thread***

i think you've got the extra tables hidden as i can't see the columns your referring to.. but kudos on finding out how!! would like to have a look when your on later :)

It's all tidied it up now. I've temporarily made it editable so you can see the formulas. This system works nicely but would still hit the same problem if both points and GD were the same, but you can extend the ranking system in the same way to include GF if needed and even GA. But since this is unlikely I've just left it at GD.

Guys I am unfortunately not going to be online tonight at all to post the scores / groups in the OP. This will have to be done tomorrow now! :o

If whoever is dealing with the scores, Ergon or James, could just post a link to the spreadsheet for all group games played up to tonight @9pm and make the post lettering really big, bold and noticeable for everyone else that would be fandabbydozee!

I'll nominate James as he has a finished spreadsheet with all 4 groups ;):D
Oh and I'll ignore the eRgon this time whOppers :p

Edit: Oops on the double post, tried to edit the first but clearly failed :o

LOL - I noticed an error in the final standings so just tweaked it! I was just thinking to myself "I wonder what you see when I do this". Now I know haha, pretty cool !

i've given up on the gd variable.. can't quit make out what to do!

It's all down to column C & D

C works out the rank using the rank function - nice and easy.

D uses sumproduct, it checks if there are any values the same in the Rank column then looks in the GD column for the higher value of those. It then ranks them (greater number returns 0, lowest returns 1)

A then adds C & D together to give the final rank. It does help if you could see it working on a table where two players have the same points.

If you surround the whole sumproduct formula with the arrayformula function does it make a difference?

don't think i used any arrayformulas..

it's the sumproduct that is displaying all values as "0" but in office excel, the person with joint points and lower goal difference displays "1". not sure why it's displaying "0" in googledocs though

I have to admit I tested it in Excel and it worked, stuck it in my google spreadsheet and got no errors so assumed it worked, but never actually tested it on a table with equal points. I'll test it now.

Edit: Just ran a quick test with the change mentioned above (arrayformula fucntion). It fixes the problem with the #N/A's. My spreadsheet is still editable if you want to check the formula. Have a quick peek at D26 downwards.

James.... think you ahve enough spare time to do one up if it were a league? :p

Would be interesting to see.

Basically just one big group.
i'd have enough spare time but i'd rather not 'host' it - i'm pap with rules and what not.. :p though you could host! and i'd be willing to be your partner in crime

Didn't have a chance to come on (I did only say hopefully :() - should be on tonight.
