VXR Trackdays - Everyone's invited!

Booked Thruxton 3rd July AM :D

At first I thought £120 was a tad bit high, but then thinking about it, it'll be a good experience and it's not my car i'll be hammering!

Can't wait! :D

Just got back from the Brands PM session. Excellent day. The track dried up nicely for us despite bbc weather forecast being heavy showers. Well worth £120 to drive an array of other peoples fast cars and have a passenger lap with a lunatic at the wheel !

Hopefully they will do it again next year

Yup, went to yesterday's PM session and was a very enjoyable day out. Good instructors, good cars, good track, good weather, good food! What else can you ask for?!

Wasn't a good day for someone though - in the second group on track, somebody totally smashed up the front end of a VXR8 :o

Managed to find it afterwards and get some pics - it didn't look too healthy!

Went to the AM session yesterday - was an enjoyable day. Had a tank slapper in the Corsa which was a bit hairy but otherwise all was good.

Passenger lap was incredible

Have you got any photos of the smashed up VXR8?

poor VXR8.

Anyone know why the VXR8 speedo was in kph and only went to 180 ? I assume it can be set back to mph as it is obviously capable of far more than 180 kph (didnt see a second set of numbers)

Probably an early example and thus a Holden Commodore with Vauxhall badges on it.

Me too! What colour group were you? I was in the White band. It was great that the track dried out for us. Did you do the telemetry lap?

I thought the day was excellent, great fun messing around with the Corsa SRi in the first session and got round to some serious track action, it's a really brilliant track to drive on.

Heres my telemetry print out, did pretty well!

I was in the white group also, I was in a blue stripy top.

Me

You were there with the missus and top of the handling thing for a bit.

Nice telemetry
Either you should be a racing driver or it was wet on the instructor lap !

I didnt do a telemetry lap, went there with about 15 mins to go and queued for 5 mins and then told wasnt likely to get out so I went elsewhere

Am I missing something?

All I'm seeing is:

Track Info

Rockingham, Corby, Northamptonshire - 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th June

One of the latest racing tracks to be built, Rockingham features several circuits in one track, including the UK's only oval track. As you'd expect from a track so new, services are second to none.
Dates

Morning Session: 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th June - JUST £120
Afternoon Session: 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th June - JUST £120

Gonna try and book one of those dates, gotta see if a guy from work's gf will "allow! him to go as she doesn't like him "racing"

Ah yes, that was my older sister I was with. Handling circuit was so much fun, pit stops challenge was awesome too. All the instructors said I was pretty awesome, maybe I should go into racing!:p

Am session yesterday. Nice breakfast, then the briefing, then came the rain. And boy did the rain just keep on coming. Aquaplaning around surtees (the left hander after Graham Hill) after dabbing the brakes then hitting the apex was great fun, especially at the speed I was going.

Saw the skid marks after the final corner from the VXR8 crash, that led from the outside of the track into a crash barrier. That guy (or girl :p) ran out of talent badly !!!

The astra was my favourite car, and especially enjoyed inadvertantly going with the same instuctor many times. About 15mins from the end of the seesion he just took me round for about 7 laps and taught me different braking techniques and how to alter the way the car sits during the corners to maximise through speed and exit velocity. Great guy !

Astra = Great fun and lots of power.
Corsa = Missed the power of the astra andfound it a bit twitch. The Arctic exhaust sounded ace but would get annoying.
Zafira = Could not be bothered with this.
VXR8 = Disappointment, but the instructors seem to be very wary after the crash from the day before. Felt like a tank, and engine just lacked what I was expecting.

Hope it runs again next year, what a fun 1/2 day !
