Elephant.co.uk Insurance

I can only assume sexual favours at this point, becasue I find it baffling also.

There's someone on here who works for an insurance company who might be able to answer that. Does seem utterly ridiculous but no doubt it will be down to the fact that statistics still show that men who include women with poor driving histories still have fewer accidents.

I find insurance absolutely baffling. Firing off quotes, they'll insure me for a grand less on a brand new S3/R32 than a second hand one. Stats must show young drivers in brand new high performance cars are much less likely to crash. Still makes no sense to me.

Got 10 months with elephant on 1.4 rover 25 for 720. Not bad being 18 with no ncb, i was a month off 19 and added parents though.

My mae got a similar quote but they put it up to 1200 when he rang to confirm and pay over the phone.

Mine went down by £100 with Bell after a phone call. God knows how. It was just a case of "Computer says..."

I probably should have called around too but I doubt they'd beat £720 and I was eager to get back on the road after a tree ate my old car

Elephant are ace.

24 Years Old
4 ncb

£370 on a Group 16 Clio 172 Cup
£270 on a Group 15 306 GTI-6

:D

At 23 with 3 years Bell are £450 FC on my GTI-6. Thats with DOC and a sensible excess as well.

It does seem quite a cheap car to insure though, despite the handling having a reputation for oversteer.

That happened to me I thought that they were previous quotes confused had run through their site as part of the process

Works for me, dosen't for my mum, no idea why. Same N18 area and shes been driving longer than me, no fault claims, points etc.. and many years NCB plus shes almost 50.

Micra 1.2 Auto 08 plate : 400 FC with Elephant, Churchill does it for 280, 320 with breakdown i think. I tried it as myself and got 380 FC from Elephant.

My car : 57 /08 Ibiza FR 1.9 TDI, i pay 450 FC i think with Elephant and got quoted 580 with Churchill :D

For 25-30 year old males the best insurers are Elephant, Admiral, Swinton and Budget.

I've found they're even cheaper if you get a quote via confused.com, when I go so the quote direct at elephant it comes out more expensive (both quotes are identical except for price).
Strange, my first year with elephant I got a quote of about £600 from confused. On elephants' own website it went down to about £540.

Very true, last year was Elephant, this year it's Admiral.

On elephant your job title can affect the price, ie. IT Manager increases your premium while a Computer Operator reduces it.

I know insurance is based on statistics but how the hell is it still cheaper if you add a woman who clearly is an increased risk from her driving history?

Same for me on the Porka too. 800 for me (0 points, 13years driving, no claims). Add on Mrs Skiddley (3 points, 5years driving, 1 claim) 700 quid.

I'm with Elephant this year too. The only problem I had started just after I applied online when I started getting automated phone calls from the parent group every day about some such. I googled the number and it was a known annoyance but you can opt out by following the instructions in the message. Other than that, I've not had to claim so far so I couldn't comment on their service.

Elephant are great for prices but just make sure you declare absolutely everything or they will try and wriggle out of the policy should you need to claim.

23
0 ncb (altho no accidents or points)
£1000 on the VX220 Turbo - 4,000 miles a year
£1,200 on the 4S - also 4,000 a year

CTR's cost a fortune to insure for anyone under 25. These insurance companies are wising up the high revving engines, fact is that you have to be driving like an idiot to get any sort of performance. They wanted £2k off me for an Exige, hence why I went for the Turbo. They told me outright this is the reason (high revving, small capacity engines are a big no no)

Haha.

High-revving engines a no-no?! Then how did I insure an RX-8 with them for relatively little? Their renewal for a new year (to reiterate: 22, 2 NCB, teacher, 12k a year, B rating post code) was £900 ish. An RX-8 doesn't redline until 8,500rpm!

Though I get your point about the VTEC.

edit: I'm still 22 for a few more weeks, not 23. Honestly, going senile.
